Dapo Mongolian township is under the jurisdiction of Yanyuan County. Xilin township was set up in 1956, the commune was changed in 1972, Dapo commune was renamed in 1981, and Dapo Mongolian township was set up in 1984. It has jurisdiction over five village committees, namely Dadi, Jimi, geju, Lagu and huajiaoping. Agriculture mainly produces potato, corn and miscellaneous grains. Animal husbandry is dominated by horses, cattle, sheep, pigs and birds.

Guabie, meaning steep and mountainous land, was a closed area ruled by Mongols before liberation. There are more than 10000 Mongolians in the territory. During the period of the Republic of China, the population was reduced due to the war with the surrounding nationalities. Geography

Dapo Mongolian township is located in the valley of Xiaojin River, a tributary of Yalong River. The transportation is very inconvenient. The land area of the township is 183.7 square kilometers, with thousands of Mongolian people. There is a unique high-quality pasture in the area. People raise cattle, sheep, horses, pigs and other livestock. The income of animal husbandry in the township is considerable, and the mode of production reflects the characteristics of the compatibility of nomadic civilization and agricultural civilization.

Most of the Mongols in Wodi and Wali moved to lamaqiao and manpozi in Yanyuan County. Most of them still live in Dapo Mongolian township.
