Xiadu Township

Xiadu Township, belonging to Qianwei County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, is located in the east of Qianwei County by the Minjiang River, separated from the county by a river. It borders Yuping Township in the East, longkong town in the south, Minjiang River in the west, Wuyu Township and Fulong Township in the north. In 2017, the area was 42.83 square kilometers, with a permanent population of 9328.

In 2015, Xiadu Township had 79 villager groups in 11 villages including Wenbi, Shilong, Shaba, Zhonghe, Yongzhong, Kaixuan, Xiangrong, Shuanghe, Sanhe, Gonghe and Baiyang, and 5 resident groups in 1 community of xiadukou.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province decided to abolish Xiadu Township and put its administrative region under the jurisdiction of Yujin town.

Evolution of organizational system

During the period of the Republic of China, it was named Dongxing township. Because the township government was located in xiadukou farm in the east of the county, and the business was booming, it was named Dongxing township.

After liberation, land reform was divided into Liuhe Township and Xianxin township.

In November 1952, Liuhe Township was renamed Xiadu Township because of its underground ferry. Fresh Township changed to Yang hometown.

In January 1956, the two townships merged into Xiadu township.

In October 1958, the people's commune was incorporated into Xincheng people's commune.

In July 1959, Xincheng people's commune was abolished and Xiadu people's commune was established.

In 1984, it was renamed Xiadu township.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province decided to abolish Xiadu Township and put the administrative areas of dukoujie community, Kaixuan village, Baiyang village, Shilong village, Wenbi village and Xiangrong village under the jurisdiction of Yujin town.

History and culture

Fuling Temple: located in the east of Qianwei Minjiang River Bridge, it is located in diaojizi, group 6, Baiyang village. The temple has a unique architectural style and various Buddha statues. Every Guanyin memorial day, there are 20000-30000 worshippers and tourists.

Stone carvings of gufogou: it is located in group 4 of Baiyang village. There are 19 stone Buddha statues of the Song Dynasty, each of which has a different look. During the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty, the believers carved the "ancient Buddha ditch" memorial archway in Shiyan and the "Guanyin Bodhisattva" Buddha statue in the middle. In August 1997, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit at the county level.

Nine gates and thirteen trees: in the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, there were "nine gates and thirteen trees" on xiadukou street, that is, there were nine gates on the street. Closing the Gates could prevent thieves from entering the street. Nine gates were demolished successively in the 1940s, and only one gate sill survived today.
