Jinkong town
Jinkong town is located in the southeast of Yanting County, adjacent to Zhegong Township and Zonghai Township in the East, Jinji town in the south, Gaodeng town in the West and Xize Township in the north. It is the seat of the former Jinkong District Office, 42 kilometers away from the county seat, covering an area of 57.72 square kilometers. County roads Daren road and Xiyu road run through the whole area. The town has 18 administrative villages, 3 communities, 215 villager groups, 11 resident groups and a total population of 17843 (2017).
On December 25, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved the adjustment of administrative divisions of some townships in Mianyang City (cfgm [2019] No. 27): Xize Township and Zonghai Township were cancelled and their administrative areas were put under the jurisdiction of Jinkong town. After the adjustment, Jinkong town governs three and four administrative areas, namely, Xize Township, Zonghai Township, Jinfo community, Siyuan community, Gulai community, menggong village, Lingyan village, Dalin village, Dongling village, Zhaobo village, liaojiaqiao village, Yangyuan village, Botou village, Ziyan village, Yanglu village, Bi Village, Longtou village, Ziqiang village, Tiantai village, qiaolou village, Mugang village, Jinlong Village and Xiangang village No. 3, Zhufu street, people's Government of Kong town.
General situation
Jinkong town is located in the southeast of Yanting County. Daren road and Xiyu road cross the town. It is adjacent to Zhegong and Zonghai in the East, Jinji town in the south, Gaodeng town in the West and Xize Township in the north. It covers an area of 57.72 square kilometers and is 59 kilometers away from the County. It has jurisdiction over two offices of Jinkong and Gulai, 23 villages, 216 communities, and one town neighborhood committee, with a total population of 17843 (2017). It has 25213 mu of cultivated land, including 7332 mu of farmland, 400 mu of forest structure adjustment, 80000 trees replanting, 15000 mu of young and middle-aged forest tending, 120000 trees scattered around, 100 mu of exemplary tending and thinning, 47.9% of forest coverage, 99.6% of planting greening rate, and 750 mm of rainfall in that year, Spring drought and summer drought, dry temperature, disease and insect pests occur frequently. The landform is hilly with peaks and valleys. The climate is subtropical monsoon climate, with sufficient sunshine, annual average temperature of 16-17.5c, annual rainfall of 835mm, early spring, hot summer, short autumn, warm winter, mild climate, abundant heat, a wide range of animals and plants, rich in oil and natural gas resources. Zimu mountain, the highest peak in the territory, is 577 meters long. It originates from Yongjiang River in Xichong County and flows through the town.
