History of construction
In February 1946, it belonged to the Ninth District of Tailai County.
In 1955, it was a good new district.
In April 1956, it was divided into four townships: Ningjiang, Xinxing, Haoxin and Huanghua.
In September 1958, Ningjiang township was transformed into Ningjiang commune.
In March 1984, Ningjiang commune was transformed into Yujiang township.
In August 1986, it was renamed Ningjiang Mongolian township.
In December 2002, the new Mongolian township was merged into Ningjiang Mongolian township.

Ningjiang Mongolian township was named after the township government's presence in Ningjiang village. In 1946, two comrades, ningtuxing and jiangshutang, died in an anti bandit battle. In memory of the two martyrs, the administrative village in wujiutun was named Ningjiang village.
