Mengyang town

Mengyang town is one of the national key towns. Located in the northern suburb of Chengdu, Southeast of Pengzhou, at the junction of Pengzhou, Qingbaijiang, Xindu, Shifang, Guanghan and other cities and counties in Deyang City, it is 22km away from Chengdu City and 16km away from the Fourth Ring Road (Ring Expressway). The town covers an area of 75.47 square kilometers and governs 16 administrative villages and 12 communities. The total number of households in the town is 25223, with a population of 73024 (2017). In March 2014, it was established as one of the first batch of small city construction demonstration towns in Chengdu. In 2016, it was rated as "Chengdu's key supporting small city in 2016" by Chengdu, and will receive policy support of 25 million yuan of special fund for small city construction and 100 mu of land index every year.

In October 2019, Mengyang town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

In December 2019, Chengdu Municipal People's government decided to abolish Mengyang town.

Scenic Spots and Historical Sites

There are many places of interest in Mengyang. The ballad "East Tower, South Bridge, West Stone, North Street, there is a Kuixing building" simply summarizes the four major places of interest in Mengyang: East Tower, South Bridge, West Stone and Kuixing building. However, due to man-made destruction in history, many cultural relics are seriously damaged. In recent years, Mengyang town has made full use of historical resources and is actively reconstructing or restoring the site. The most famous is the 3000 year old Shang and Zhou cultural site in Qinglong village of Mengyang town. It is on the same platform as the national famous Sanxingdui cultural site of Guanghan. The total area of the site is 1 square kilometer. Dozens of bronzes, including wine vessels with exquisite patterns and a large number of bronzes, have been unearthed at the site. Historical evolution

Mengyang town has a long history, known as "the left capital of Mengzhou, Tianpeng town".

In the second year of Renshou of Sui Dynasty (602 AD), Mengzhou was set up and Jiulong, Qingcheng and Pixian were led;

In the third year of Daye of emperor Yang of Sui Dynasty (607 A.D.), the county under the jurisdiction of Mengzhou was abolished and changed into Shu county;

In the third year of Wude (620 AD), Emperor Gaozu of Tang Dynasty, Mengzhou was divided into three counties, namely Jiulong, Mianzhu and Daojiang;

In the second year of Yifeng (677 A.D.) of Emperor Gaozong of Tang Dynasty, Mengyang county was set up because it was located in the north of Mengjiang River, and it belonged to Yizhou;

In 686 A.D., Pengzhou was established and Mengyang county was under its jurisdiction;

In 1377, Pengzhou was changed into a county, and Mengyang was also changed into a town, which is called Mengyang town.

In July 1953, Tongxin village and Qianjin village were designated from Chengdong Township, Zhongxi Village and Zixia Village (formerly named Mingyi) were designated from Chengxi township to form Chengguan town.

In July 1959, Chengguan people's commune was established by dividing the area under the jurisdiction of Chengguan town and the brigades of Deguang, Defu, Mengyang, Heping and Guankou under the jurisdiction of Chengxi people's commune. The commune has one sub district office, four residential sections and four brigades.

In November 1962, the sub district office and residential section were divided out and Chengguan town was reorganized.

On March 23, 1981, Chengguan town was renamed Mengyang town.

In March 1984, it was promoted to a district level town, and the town government was stationed at 21 Qianjin Road.

On September 24, 1992, Zixia and Chengnan were merged into Mengyang town.

On April 21, 1993, the town government moved to 62 Xinmin Road.

In 2004, Mengyang town merged with Sanyi town and ZhuWa town to become Mengyang Town, and was identified as a national key town.

At the beginning of 2005, Mengyang town was identified as one of the 14 priority towns in Chengdu.

In December 2019, Chengdu Municipal People's government decided to abolish Mengyang town.

Development status

Since the reform and opening up, Mengyang town has made remarkable progress in economic construction and social undertakings, and its development strength has been continuously enhanced. Since 2000, more than 30 large-scale deep processing enterprises of agricultural products have been established, including Chengdu Huaqi Steel Pipe Co., Ltd., Chengdu Sanyi Special Steel Co., Ltd., Chongqing Hongyan Automobile Spring Factory, Chengdu Panlian company, etc. There are more than 100 enterprises in the town, including metallurgical enterprises

Mengyang town has sufficient water, electricity and gas supply, and 35 kV substation, waterworks, gas distribution station and other municipal infrastructure are basically complete. There are four main streets and six secondary streets in the East, South, West and North. In recent years, Mengyang town has been successively rated as "national beautiful environment town", "Chengdu charming town and the most potential development town", awarded 100000 Mu national demonstration area of modern agricultural green vegetable industry, and successfully held China Sichuan (Pengzhou) vegetable Expo (one of the two major vegetable expositions recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture).
