Miaoxi Township, subordinate to Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County of Chongqing, is located in the northwest of Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, bordering LANGPING Township in the East, Cangling town in the south, across the river from Apeng River, gongtan town in the west, Lujiao town in Pengshui County in the north, 89km away from Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County Government, with a total area of 108km2.
In 1942, Miaoxi township was established from Hexi township; in August 1983, Miaoxi commune was changed into Miaoxi township. As of June 2020, Miaoxi village has jurisdiction over five administrative villages, and the Township People's government is stationed in Miaoxi village.

In 1942, Miaoxi township was set up from Hexi Township, which was subordinate to three districts (two rivers).
In October 1958, Miaoxi Township, Jingzhu Township and Chahe Township merged to form Miaoxi commune.
In August 1983, Miaoxi commune was changed into Miaoxi township.
In 1995, Jingzhu Township and Chahe Township were merged into Miaoxi township.
