History of construction
Shuangyang township is named after dayangban and xiaoyangban.
In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the shiwujia white orchard in Tongcheng city.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it was under the jurisdiction of Baiguo Township, the first district.
In April 1953, Baiguo township was divided into four townships, Baiguo, Matang, Huilong and Shuangyang, under the jurisdiction of the Tenth District of Wuxi County.
In April 1955, the Tenth District was abolished, Matang was merged into Baiguo Township, Huilong into Shuangyang Township, and Tongcheng district (the seventh district) was divided.
In May 1958, Shuangyang and Baiguo townships merged to form Shuangyang commune.
In July 1983, Shuangyang commune was replaced by Shuangyang township.
