Historical evolution
The township was originally Baise county. In 1935, it was adjusted by Guangxi Province and returned to Fengshan county. It was still set up as Xiangqiao township. In February 1950, the county was divided into four districts, named in sequence, with Chengzhi, poxin and Xiangqiao as the first district. In August 1951, the county was divided into seven districts. Yuanxiangqiao township was divided into the Fifth District and the seventh district. In February 1956, Bama Yao Autonomous County was established. The five villages of Nashe, Nayi, Naguang, Xianglan and Donglie, which belonged to the former Xiangqiao Township, were assigned to Bama. The remaining four villages of Weixin, Jiangzhou, nongpang and Xiangwei still belong to the Fifth District. It was renamed Pingle District in January 1957 and Pingle people's commune in September 1958. In June 1961, the original Pingle commune area was divided into three small communes, namely Pingle, Jiangzhou and mouai. In July 1962, the three small communes were merged into Pingle District, and in July 1970, they were renamed Pingle commune. In September 1984, Pingle commune was divided into Pingle and Jiangzhou.
