Litang town belongs to Binyang County, Nanning City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is located in the south of Tropic of cancer, between 23 ° 06 ′~ 23 ° 15 ′ N and 109 ° 01 ′~ 109 ° 17 ′ e, in the middle of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the east of Binyang County, 93 km away from Nanning City, 50 km away from Guigang City and 99 km away from Liuzhou city. Litang town covers an area of 219 square kilometers. By the end of 2017, the total population was 115564.
Litang town is a key town in China, a well-off demonstration town in the autonomous region, a transportation hub and an industrial city in Central Guangxi. In October 2019, Litang town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".
Evolution of organizational system
Litang system began in Jin Dynasty, known as Shicheng.
Ancheng village, three kilometers away from the northern suburb of Litang, was originally the county seat of Ding County, Guangyu County in the Han Dynasty, and Linpu county (now Binyang County) in the Three Kingdoms. Emperor Wu of Jin Dynasty divided Linpu County into Lingfang county and Suining County, and Suining County was established here.
During the reign of emperor Liang Wu of the Southern Dynasty, Suining was withdrawn and the county and group governments of Ancheng were established here.
In the Song Dynasty, Jiebao city was incorporated into Lingfang County, where county and county governments were set up for more than 600 years. The city was built in the Jin Dynasty and then rebuilt in different dynasties. There are government offices and residents in the city. The surrounding walls are more than Zhang high and one Zhang thick. A gate opens to the south. They are all made of big stones, so they are called stone city.
After the Yuan Dynasty, it was no longer a place of governance.
During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, the market was moved to the current site of Litang.
Around the 13th year of the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty (1833), local people and foreigners set up shops in Litang.
In 1927, the binpan line (from Binyang to Panlong in Luchuan county) was opened to traffic, with more and more merchants from Guixian, Yulin and Wuzhou.
In 2003, liming town and Litang town merged into Litang town.
