Shenquan town
Shenquan town is located in the southeast of Huilai County, Jieyang City, 9 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Qianzhan town in the East, Donglong town and Nanhai Economic Development Zone in the west, Nanhai town in the south, Huahu town and Huicheng town in the north. It is one of the three coastal towns in Huilai County (Shenquan, Qianzhan, Jinghai). The area is 50.86 square kilometers, the coastline is 14.8 kilometers long, and the cultivated land is 17740 mu. By the end of 2017, there were 72023 permanent residents.
Shenquan port is a well-known foreign trade port in history. It is the largest natural port in eastern Guangdong Province, and is listed as a first-class fishing ground by Guangdong Province. It is also a national first-class fishing port. The main seafood are squid, cuttlefish, hairtail, lobster, mackerel, grouper, abalone, golden dragon, etc.
Economic overview
With a coastline of 14.8 km, it is one of the main fishing areas in Huilai. There are 860 motorized fishing boats, with a total power of 26000 horsepower and an annual catch of 1.8 tons. The main industries are fishing net, shipbuilding and aquatic products processing. There are 7 town run industries and 4 imported processing industries. The county has two state-owned factories and eight second light industrial factories. There are three salt farms in the town, with a total area of 5600 mu, and an annual output of 700 tons of raw salt. In 1987, the total industrial and agricultural output value of the town was 25.6292 million yuan, of which the fishery output value was 12.6996 million yuan, accounting for 49.55%. There are 1 middle school, 15 primary schools, 1 health center and 2 movie theaters. In 1987, the town covers an area of 1.2 square kilometers and has a population of 18000. In the southwest of shenquangang Town, there are Tonghui City, huirenkui and highway. Not long ago, the Jieshen highway from Jieyang to Shenquan port was opened in Shenquan town. In the future, Jieshen railway is planned to be built to form Huilai sea land transportation hub.
History and culture
Zheng He set up a storage and transportation warehouse in Shenquan during his seven voyages to the west, which provided certain historical materials and supporting historical materials for Zheng He.
Shibiliao nunnery in Shenquan town is designated as a key cultural relic protection unit by the county. Shibiliao nunnery was built in the Ming Dynasty. It was rebuilt by the county government during the reign of Daoguang. In the first month of the fourth year of the 30th year of Guangxu, the magistrate of the county set up a ban sign to protect the nunnery. There are a number of movable cultural relics such as copper pagoda, bronze mirror, stone statue of Guanyin, scriptures and so on in the temple, which has a certain research value for the Shi'an temple in Huilai in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties.

In 2017, the total output value of industry and agriculture of the town was 8.124 billion yuan, the total retail sales was 8.90 billion yuan, the investment in fixed assets was 1.37 billion yuan, and the revenue from finance and taxation was 6.973 million yuan, increasing by 12.6%, 10.1%, 14.2% and 11.4% respectively.
Agriculture
In history, Shenquan town mainly cultivated rice, sweet potato and vegetables. In recent years, the planting amount of vegetables and fruits is on the rise, gradually forming large-scale production. By 2007, the planting area of grain crops in the town was 26200 mu (double production), with a unit area yield of 383 kg and a total output of 10050 tons; the fruit area was 12000 mu, with an annual output of 751 tons. Animal husbandry is mainly family feeding, with an annual feeding capacity of 350000.
Fisheries
Marine fishing is the leading and pillar industry of Shenquan town. Shenquan town relies on the advantages of ocean and port to develop marine fishery. At present, there are 715 motor fishing boats with 108 horsepower or above, 395 fir bamboo rafts, and seafood products such as squid, cuttlefish, hairtail, lobster, mackerel, grouper, and golden dragon. In 2007, the marine fishing output was 41580 tons. Aquaculture has developed rapidly. There are 11 abalone farms in the town, with 30000 cubic meters of aquaculture water, and the integration of incubation, aquaculture and sales has been realized. There are 21 shrimp farms, with an area of more than 1200 mu.
Industry
Shenquan town has a certain industrial base. Since the reform and opening up, private enterprises have developed rapidly. Since 1989, the pace of enterprise system reform has been accelerated, and the dominant position of state-owned and collective enterprises has been gradually replaced by private enterprises, resulting in the emergence of a large number of competitive private enterprises. In 1994, the output value of enterprises in Shenquan town achieved the goal of "100 million yuan for the line". In 2007, there were 460 industrial enterprises in the town, forming industries with coastal characteristics such as shipbuilding, repair, netting, ice making, aquatic products processing, cable, zipper, plastic products, etc. Among them, there are 221 aquatic products processing industries with an annual output value of 400 million yuan, 18 ice factories and 12 zipper factories. Evergreen food is exported to the United States, Canada, Hong Kong and other countries and regions, Dachang zipper "DCC" brand trademark ranks among the well-known brands in Jieyang City. At present, the planning and design of Shenquan international industrial park covering an area of 3900 Mu has been completed. In the history of Shenquan Town, commerce was relatively active, known as "Little Hong Kong". With the development of market economy, the town has built four markets, including Town, Aojiao and Luyuan. The planning of Shenquan East Guangdong aquatic products market, covering an area of 15.5 hectares, has been completed, with a planned investment of 110 million yuan.
Tourism catering industry
Relying on its location and resource advantages, Shenquan town has made great efforts to develop the seaside catering industry. At present, it has established two large-scale seafood restaurants and eight seafood stalls, forming a seafood catering village and creating a brand. Nowadays, visitors from Jieyang, Shantou, Puning, Chaoyang and Shenzhen often visit Luyuan seashore and taste seafood during holidays. In the history of Shenquan Town, more attention was paid to education, and famous scholars such as Su Fu, a child prodigy, emerged. After the founding of new China, education has been further developed. Since the reform and opening up, public and private education has developed vigorously. In August 1990, Aojiao fishery middle school was built with an investment of 3.64 million yuan. It is the first middle school built by villagers' self financing in Guangdong Province. In May 1997, the people's Government of Shenquan town was rated as an advanced unit of "popularizing nine-year compulsory education and eliminating illiteracy among young and middle-aged people" by the people's Government of Guangdong Province. By 2007, there were 3 middle schools with 3548 students and 254 teachers, 23 primary schools (including 21 public schools and 2 private schools), 15564 students and 581 in-service teachers (including 3334 private schools and 96 teachers).
Culture
Local characteristic cultural societies mainly include Chaozhou Opera Troupe, Chaoyue club, lantern riddle Association, Chess Association, etc. The local traditional culture includes Shengquan Yingge, dragon boat race and so on. Traditional folk crafts include wood carving, bamboo weaving and stone carving.

Shenquan health center was established in 1958, built in 1996 and rebuilt in 2000, with a construction area of 1520 square meters. By 2007, Shenquan hospital had 22 Chinese and Western doctors and 18 beds. There are 10 individual clinics and 21 rural medical stations in the town.

Port
Shenquan port is the main commercial port and fishing port in eastern Guangdong. It is also the main trading port for Jieyang's foreign exchanges. It has built a 1003 meter long south breakwater and three 570 meter long revetments. In 1993, it was listed in the ten-year special investment plan for Guangdong's fishing port construction. In December 2007, Shenquan port was approved as a national first-class fishing port by the Ministry of agriculture of the people's Republic of China.

There is a waterworks in Shenquan Town, which was started in March 1985 and put into operation in December 1986. The daily water supply is 3000 tons, and the water tower is used to fix the water level.

Shenquan town is powered by the county power grid. In 1960, the town power supply station was established. In 1979, the high-voltage line was connected from Huicheng to Shenquan. In 2002, the power supply line of the whole town was transformed. The high-voltage line is 66.54 km, the low-voltage line is 276.6 km, and 93 transformers are equipped.

There are many places of interest and historic sites, among which the more famous ones are: Haijiao Ganquan, mirage, Yuhua pagoda, Tongtian Gujing, Yandun Wanghai, fishing boat's late return, Yuhu Chaotian, Academy Qingsong, wojiao fort, Aotou tower, Tianhou palace, Aojiao aunt's house, Mazu stone statue, etc.
Aojiao Fort
Aojiao fort is located in the northwest of Aojiao Township, 20 miles south of Huilai County. It is 5 Li to Xidong fort in the East and 5 Li to Shenquan fort in the West. In 1717, it was built to prevent Japanese pirates. There are 6 cannons, 7 barracks, one defense specialist and 18 soldiers. The fort faces east and faces Mingbo. The fort was rammed with shell ash, with battlements, blastholes and pedestrian passageways. The wall is 5.8 meters high, 2 meters thick, 1.3 meters sidewalk, with a total area of 312 square meters. It's still in good condition.
Chinese Mazu
Huilai is located in the east coast of Guangdong Province, with a coastline of 81 kilometers and more than 30 coastal villages. Most of the ancestors of the villagers migrated from Putian, Fujian Province. The close relationship between the coastal characteristics and Meizhou Island in Putian is the basis for the existence and development of Mazu culture.
