Luogang Town, subordinate to Xingning City, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the north of Xingning City, surrounded by mountains on all sides and 40 kilometers away from Xingning City. It is historically known as the "North six center" of Xingning and is an old revolutionary base area. The center is about 115 ° 38 'e and 24 ° 25' n. It is adjacent to Huangpi town and Huanghuai town in the East, Chiguang town and Xintian town in Longchuan County in the west, Daping town in the South and Luofu town in the north, covering an area of 151.06 square kilometers (2017). Luogang town was built in the late Ming Dynasty. Xingning was liberated on May 18, 1949, and Luogang district was set up on June 8; Luohuang district was set up in early April 1950; in May 1950, it was changed into Fugang district (the Fifth District); in April 1987, Luogang district was changed into Luogang town.
Luogang town is inhabited by Han people who speak Hakka language. Originally, they moved from both sides of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River to the central and southern parts of Fujian and Jiangxi. Historical evolution
Luogang town was built in the late Ming Dynasty. At that time, when the Han people moved from central and southern Fujian and Jiangxi to Xingning, there were two surnames, Luo and Jiang, who lived here and got the name "Luojiang" from their surnames. Because the Hakka language "Jiang" and "Gang" have the same pronunciation, and there are many hills here, later generations wrote "Luojiang" as "Luogang", and Luogang got its name from this. On May 18, 1949, Xingning was liberated and Luogang district was established on June 8. In early April 1950, Luohuang district was established. In May 1950, it was rezoned as Fugang district (District 5). from October 1951 to December 1956, it was divided into Luogang District (the Fifth District). In January 1957, Luogang was divided into Luodong Township and Luoxi township. In September 1958, Luogang people's commune was established. In April 1978, Luogang commune was divided into Luogang commune, Guanzhuang commune and xialan commune. In November 1983, the three communes merged into Luogang district. In April 1987, Luogang district was changed into Luogang town.
