Under the jurisdiction of Pingyuan County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, Bachi town is located 24 kilometers northwest of the city. It has 11 villages, 1 community and 118 villager groups, including Bachi, Jiaokeng, Feitian, paixia, Shifeng, Fengtou, Qiongzhu, Nantang, louqian, Huangsha and ZhangTian. 9181 (2017).
In addition to the original residents, there are 932 people in the town, including more than 810 Taiwan compatriots, 37 Hong Kong compatriots and more than 80 overseas Chinese such as Malaysia. They are all Han nationality, Hakka people, speaking Hakka language.

The town government is located in bachiwu, which is the political, economic and cultural center. Located at 24 ° 44 ′ N and 115 ° 48 ′ e, it is adjacent to renju and Hetou towns in the East, Zhonghang town in the south, liuche town in Jiangxi Province in the southwest and Nanqiao town in Jiangxi Province in the north. Niuaishi, located about 5 meters to the east of national highway 206, is carved with the words "Guangdong, 20, State Council, 1999" on one side and "Jiangxi" on the other. About 200 meters away from the boundary stele, the gate of Guangdong Province was built on the 206 National Road at the junction of Guangdong and Jiangxi in 1993. On the top of the gate, there is a gilded inscription "Guangdong people welcome you again". The Bachi section of the boundary line between Guangdong and Jiangxi is about 26 kilometers long, with a boundary area of 108.5 square kilometers (2017). From southwest to northeast, the natural villages bordering Bachi are ZhangTian, Bachi, Jiaokeng, paixia, Shifeng, Fengtou, gezhu, Huangsha, etc.

Basic information
Bachi is located in the hilly and mountainous areas, which is the border of Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces. It is 5 kilometers north along the 206 National Highway, which is the gate of Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces. The masses of the two provinces have frequent contacts every day, so it is a unique border town. The terrain inclines from southwest to northeast. The Wuyi Mountains extend to the south. The mountains overlap and fluctuate, with Valley plains of different sizes. Jiaoshanzhang, the second highest mountain in Pingyuan County of Meizhou City, stands in the west of the town. The main peak is 1030 meters above sea level. The peak has about 300 square meters of flat land. In the 1950s, an aviation tower was erected on the peak. Because the East and west sides of the peak are like the two horns of animals, it is named jiaoshanzhang. It is surrounded by mountains and is majestic. Bachi is rich in water resources. There are 11 villages in the town. Except paixia village, the streams of the other 10 villages flow into Hanjiang River, which is one of the sources of Dongjiang River and Hanjiang River. The water system of Bachi is evenly distributed. ZhangTian river originates from two tributaries of Jiaokeng, jiaoshanzhang and Jinxi, and flows into ZhangTian and then into Huangtian reservoir after confluence of Bachi village, with a total length of 10.2 km and a rainfall collecting area of 30 square km. Rentian river originates from meilongzhai (fengtouzhang) of Fengtou village, flows into Huangtian reservoir through Fengtou, Shifeng, Feitian, Nantang, louqian and Rentian, with a total length of 18.9 km and a rainfall collecting surface of 65 square kilometre. Bachi is rich in water resources and generally will not suffer from drought. The mountain vegetation around the beach is dense. According to the statistics at the end of 2005, there were 97 water storage projects with an effective irrigation area of 4097 mu. Ten power stations have been developed with a total installed capacity of 1559 kW and an average annual power generation of 3 million kwh. The power has been integrated into the county power grid. The fish pond covers an area of more than 1600 mu and is used to breed grass carp, mud carp, silver carp and common carp, with an annual output of 300000 kg. A large number of fry come on the market every spring. Bachi town is the largest rice producing town in Meizhou city. During the period of unified grain purchase and marketing, it sold more than 1.8 million kilograms to the state every year, which can be called the "land of fish and rice". The masses make full use of surplus rice to make Baijiu and liquor. Bachi town is a famous wine town in eastern Guangdong, known as Maotai Town in Meizhou City, with Bachi town liquor industry association. There are 66 medium and large distilleries in the town, with an annual output of about 10000 tons of eight foot rice wine and 6000 tons of eight foot Niang wine. The main varieties of wine include eight feet of small pot rice wine, rice wine, glutinous rice wine, black rice wine, black glutinous rice wine, Gao Hezi wine, eight foot Niang liquor, eight feet yellow wine, Baijiu wine, red bean and so on. The wine is pure in color, mellow and delicious in taste, which makes people think about drinking and the supply exceeds the demand. There are more than 480 shops selling eight Chi rice wine and eight Chi Niang wine in Meizhou City (including Meijiang district and Meixian District). the mountain forest area of the town is 125000 mu, accounting for 11.5% of the total area of the town. The forest coverage rate is maintained at more than 99%, mainly including pine, fir, camphor, pine, citron, maple, bamboo and other broad-leaved trees. A large number of wood processing products are sold out every year, which is one of the key wood producing areas in Pingyuan county. Dwarf Zhang, Haolong, haokeng and other mountainous areas are rich in Phyllostachys pubescens, with an area of 18000 mu. Every year, hundreds of thousands of original bamboos are transferred out, and local people can weave bamboo products for sale. The origin of place names
On the one hand, a meteorite suddenly fell from the sky when the polder was built, and it was measured to be just eight feet square, so it was called Bachi polder; on the other hand, it is said that the old polder's street was eight feet wide, so it was called Bachi polder, and its name has been used ever since.

The administrative system of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty was called Jiuxiang, and it was called Bachi Township in the early years of the Republic of China. After the founding of new China, it was called Bachi Township, belonging to the Second District of Pingyuan county (Heba District). From 1952 to 1954, Pingyuan, Jiaoling, Hexian and Bachi belonged to the Sixth District. In 1954, Jiaoping county was divided into two counties, which were called Bachi district. In March 1956, the Joint Township system was implemented, belonging to Bachi District, known as Bachi township. In 1958, it was called Bachi people's commune, which governs two townships, Hetou and Bachi. From January 1959 to 1961, Pingyuan county and Xingning county were still called Bachi people's commune. In 1961, Pingyuan county was restored and called Bachi people's commune. In 1983, it was divided into districts, townships and villages, which was called Bachi district office. In 1987, it was renamed Bachi town. In August 1986, vice governor Wang Pingshan came to the town to inspect the cultural and educational work, and personally wrote the name of the "eight foot shadow theater"; in July 1994, Xie Fei, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party committee, came to the town to inspect the work, and went to ZhangTian village to understand the production and living conditions of farmers.
Infrastructure
The traffic of Bachi is well developed, with Bachi polder as the center and spreading in all directions. The north-south direction is the 206 National Road leading to hepingyuan County in Jiangxi Province, and the northeast is the only way leading to Wuzhishi, a key ecotourism area in Guangdong Province. The 11 villages in the town are paved with cement roads 5 meters or 4 meters wide, with a total mileage of 98 kilometers. Weizhen has a permanent population of more than 2000 people, all drinking tap water. Bachiwu is a young and dynamic market. It was founded by Mr. Han Dehui (No. Wenshao) of bachiwu village, and moved from bachiwu on October 11, 1945. National Highway 206 runs through Jiangxi, adjacent to Nanqiao and liuche towns, and adjacent to renju, Hetou and Zhonghang towns. The transportation is well developed. Before liberation, Weizhen town covers an area of about 60000 square meters, and there are not many shops. After liberation, especially since 1985, it has been expanded year by year. From south to north, the street is more than 700 meters long and 15 meters wide, and the building covers a total area of 160000 square meters. There are two cross streets connecting the 206 National Road. The streets are paved with cement pavement, and there are green trees on both sides of the street. The environment is clean and beautiful. It is more than 2000 meters long from Bachi toll station of national highway 206 to renba road crossing. It is also equipped with bright street lamps. Passenger and freight vehicles all over the country flow back and forth in the national highway.
