Doushan town

Doushan Town, located in the southeast of Taishan City, Guangdong Province, in guanghaiwan industrial park approved by Guangdong Province, is one of the first central towns approved by Guangdong Province, and is also a professional town for eel. There are 18 village committees, one neighborhood committee and 156 natural villages in Doushan Town, with a total area of 137.05 square kilometers. The population of Doushan town is 45415 people (in 2017). There are more than 80000 overseas Chinese living in 91 countries and regions in the world, known as "the first hometown of overseas Chinese in China", "two Doushan at home and abroad" and "land of fish and rice".

Doushan town was selected into the list of demonstration construction of strong agricultural towns in 2018.

Historical evolution

Doushan town was a short cave capital in Ming and Qing Dynasties. During the period of the Republic of China, it was called the third district of Taishan. Doushan commune was established with Chonglou and Duhu in 1958, Duhu commune in 1959 and Chonglou commune in 1961. In 1984, it was changed to Doushan District, and in 1986, it was withdrawn from the district to build a town. In 1996, the town government was stationed in doushanwei, 26 kilometers away from Taicheng. It has jurisdiction over 20 administrative areas (Xingzheng Village) including doushanwei, Fuchang, Xiqiao, xiudun, Dawan, Zhongli, Lianzhou, Fushi, xizha, Tianhou, Hengjiang, caohou, Annan, Liufu, tangmei, Qile, Wufu, Meinan, Duntou and nazhou.

Zizania latifolia

Zizania latifolia, belonging to Gramineae, is also called Heshu because of its similar appearance to the seedlings. The difference between Zizania latifolia and rice seedlings is that the leaves of Zizania latifolia are longer, wider and thicker than those of rice, and grow luxuriantly. In the southern part of Taishan, there are a lot of products, most of which are produced in Doushan and the best in Liucun. Zizania latifolia is suitable to grow along the pond. In the middle of spring every year, the withered manuscripts left behind are divided into small trees and planted in low-lying land with water to grow without fertilization all the year round. At the end of summer, the bamboo shoots will be lush and green, and then the mud will be splashed between the dry branches to leave a gap, so that they can germinate in large quantities. The Mid Autumn Festival will spring up like bamboo shoots, then harvest. There are three ways to eat bamboo shoots: frying, frying and rolling soup.
