Pingtan Township
Pingtan township is located in the southwest of Tongdao Dong Autonomous County, 20 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Longcheng town in the East, yatunbu in the west, Sanjiang County in Guangxi in the South and Huangtu Township in the north. There are many peaks and mountains, surrounded by streams and rivers. The terrain is high in the southwest, low in the northeast, and low in the middle. After the confluence of Gengyun River and Gaobu river at the upstream of the township government, it is called Pingtan river. Pingtan river flows through eight administrative villages from south to north. There are Shuanglong highway, Pingtan Linxi highway and Pingtan yatunbu highway with a total mileage of 60 km. The township is an important part of the corridor of Baili Dong culture. It is named Lusheng Township by the Ministry of culture of the people's Republic of China. There are six national cultural relics protection units and three provincial cultural relics protection units. The population density of Dong people is 150 people per square kilometer in 2007 and 159 people per square kilometer in 2010. In 2007, the GDP was 23.68 million yuan and the per capita net income of farmers was 1212 yuan. In 2010, the GDP was 34.52 million yuan and the per capita net income of farmers was 1428 yuan.
Historical evolution
The township got its name from Zhudi Pingtan village. At the beginning of liberation, it belonged to Linxi District, Sanjiang County, Guangxi. In 1954, it was designated as the seventh district resident. Pingtan township was established in 1956, Pingtan commune was established with Huangtu Township in 1958, separated out in 1961, and changed to Township in 1984.
