Yanghe Tujia Township, Cili County, Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province is located in the northwest corner of Cili County, 70 km away from the county seat and 37 km away from Zhangjiajie City. It is adjacent to Ganyan Tujia Township in the East, xujiafang Tujia Township in the west, Xikou town across the river in the South and Wulingyuan scenic spot in the north.

Historical evolution

According to historical records, it was the eighth capital of Cili County in the early Ming Dynasty. There is Niang River in the territory, which was originally named as Zao river. In ancient times, it was called Niang river. Later, it was falsely called ranhe. Because of its close Yang sound, it is also called Yanghe. In 1980, according to the warm climate here, it was renamed Yanghe, from which the township was named. During the period of the Republic of China, it belonged to Xiyu Township from the 16th to the 25th year of the Republic of China. From 1952 to 1956, it belonged to six districts. It was Yanghe Township from 1956 to 1958. In 1958, Ganyan Township, Yanghe Township and xujiafang Township were withdrawn and Yanghe commune was established. Ganyan and xujiafang separated from Yanghe commune in 1960 (Xikou district from 1962 to 1995). It was Yanghe Township from 1984 to 1994 and merged into Tujia township of xujiafang from 1995 to 1998. On October 21, 1998, it was designated as Yanghe Tujia township.
