Dongtang town
Dongtang town is located in the north of Xiangyin County, adjacent to Yingtian town by Dongting Lake in the west, Quyuan Administrative Region in the north and Miluo City in the East. Xiangying highway and Xiangmi highway pass through. The region covers an area of 52.08 square kilometers (2017), with 20 villages, 1 neighborhood committee, 296 villager groups, 29042 people (2017), and 28783 mu of cultivated land.
Historical evolution
The town belongs to Xianqing Township in the Republic of China. At the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Chengguan District. In 1950, it belonged to fanguan, Shijian, Xiaoqiao and Zengjia townships, belonging to 8 districts. In 1956, it belonged to Dongtang and Huangjia townships. In 1958, it belonged to Qianjin and Xianfeng people's communes respectively. In 1961, it was reduced to Dongtang and Huangjia communes. In 1968, Huangjia commune was abolished, and the rest was merged into Dongtang commune except Lailong and Xingxing. In 1984, it was changed into a township, and Dongtang town was established in 1995.

The town is rich in high-quality rice, sweet potato, tea, corn, sugarcane, wood and pigs. The stratum is rich in kaolin resources, and the total grain output has reached 17690 tons. Zhong Zhihua graduated from Hunan University in 1982, majoring in mechanical manufacturing. In January 1984, he went to Sweden to study for a doctor's degree.
