The municipal facilities of Shangdu Street are poor. After 1981, the sub district office seriously dealt with the "dirty, disordered and poor" problems, rebuilt 36 small streets and alleys and made them clean. In eight years, a total of 17880 square meters of trees were planted and afforested. Three neighborhood committees, namely Huilu, Lingxia and Longtan, met the standard of civilized neighborhood committee. Located in the center of the river in the north, the three counties and continents have been developed into the largest park in the region - Jiangxin park. Since 1977, through continuous investment and construction by the municipal and District People's governments, 50000 fruit trees and trees have been planted in the park, covering the whole island with green shade. Pavilions and pavilions are well arranged on the island, with ferry terminals. The beach on the South Bank of the park is fine and flat with slow water flow. It is one of the two natural swimming pools in Fuzhou City. Every summer, the park is full of tourists, with a daily flow of more than 7000 people, known as the "Sun Island" of Fuzhou. In 1989, there were 2 universities and technical secondary schools, 1 middle school, 4 primary schools, 1 health care center and 17 provincial and municipal enterprises.
economic construction
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the provincial and municipal people's governments, through the socialist transformation of private industry and commerce, merged the large-scale timber firms, processing plants and transportation enterprises in Shangdu area to form Fuzhou timber yard and affiliated timber processing plants. In the 1950s, the District People's government successively set up factories in hardware, building materials, furniture, machinery, chemical industry and other industries in Shangdu, breaking the traditional single structure of wood production. In 1958, sub district offices began to set up processing and service enterprises. By 1978, there were 10 small factories with 744 employees, with an annual output value of 1.2179 million yuan and a profit of 106800 yuan. In 1988, due to the change of administrative division, 10 of the 27 factories in Shangdu street were under the jurisdiction of Hujie street. In 1989, there were 22 Street factories with 2717 employees, with an annual output value of 7.03 million yuan and a profit of 193100 yuan, ranking third in the district. At the same time of setting up industry, the streets also developed commerce and labor service industry, and gradually formed a network. In 1985, the sub district office carried out the activity of "price and measurement trustworthy Street" in Shangdu street, which was popularized by the District People's government as experience to the whole district. The provincial and municipal newspapers and TV stations also made special reports. In 1989, there were 23 commercial and labor service enterprises with 395 employees.
Historical changes
The street terrain is low in the north and high in the south. In the north is the silting land of Minjiang River, with many ports and branches and convenient water transportation. There are Youxi Island, the largest continent in Cangshan District, and yangqia River, the longest inland river. Since the lifting of the sea ban in 1533, it gradually became the main timber distribution center in Fuzhou. In the upper reaches of the Minjiang River, a large number of timber were first concentrated in the dock in this area by means of discharge transportation, and then rough processed and sold to both inside and outside the province and abroad. The largest dock in Fuzhou is built in Youxi island. In the south, there are hills. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was a tomb area. In ancient and modern times, this area is an agricultural farming area.
In 1612, the route from Fuzhou to Putian was changed. The government opened up a new road from Cangqian to Wanbian via Shangdu. From then on, Shangdu became an important channel from Fuzhou to Yongtai. After the Republic of China, some ethnic businessmen came here one after another to set up wood processing factories. On the eve of the Anti Japanese War, there were more than 30 such factories, with nearly 1000 workers. It was one of the main industrial processing zones in Cangshan at that time. The products are exported to Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia besides Shanghai and Tianjin.
The origin of place names
Shangdu
Shangdu is located in the northwest of Cangshan District. It starts from yangqia road in the West and ends at Longtan Road in the East. The whole journey is 913 meters long, which is called Shangdu road. Encyclopedia of Fuzhou: "in the Tang Dynasty, this was the ferry to the North Bank of Minjiang River. It was named because it was located in Shangxi." Shangdu, as a long-term timber distribution center, is a port mainly for water transportation of timber in Northern Fujian. There are muxiong dock, timber yard, timber shop and sawmill in Youxi island. Shangdu road was a sandbag earth road before liberation. In 1959, it was widened and paved with asphalt concrete pavement. With the erection of Sanxianzhou bridge in 1999, the pavement was widened and newly built, becoming a main road. Although the function of ferry has gradually disappeared, the place name "Shangdu" is still in use.
Wangbeitai
Wangbeitai is located in Shangdu street, opposite to diaolongtai in damiaoshan of Taijiang river. According to the research, Longtan Road had not been opened in the past, and residents in the northern part of Nantai Island had to climb huangbailing to cross Wanshou bridge to enter the city. During the Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty (1522-1566). Chen Jing, a native of Lantau Island, built a Zhenwu temple on the top of huangbailing and engraved the word "wangbeitai" on the stone wall. From then on, wangbeitai replaced huangbailing and became a place name. "Rongcheng archaeology brief" contains: "wangbeitai is in the west of Guangxiao temple. There is a temple on the top of the mountain, worshiping Zhenwu, formerly known as huangbailing." In the early years of the Republic of China, Longtan Road was gradually opened and renamed "Beitai road". After 1950, the old name of huangbailing was restored. However, the ancient temple and carved stone still exist, and people still call it wangbeitai.
