Nuofu is located in the south of Lancang County, 97 kilometers away from the county seat. It is adjacent to Huimin Township in the East, Menglian County in the west, Donghui Township and Jiujing Township in the north, and Myanmar state in the South (56.843 kilometers in length). Historical evolution
The Qing Dynasty was under the jurisdiction of Menglian Xuanfu department. During the period of the Republic of China, it first belonged to the Second District, then Menghai Township and Zhenbian township. It was renamed Nuofu District in 1954, Qianwei commune in 1969, Nuofu commune in 1971, Nuofu District in 1984, Nuofu Township in 1988, and villagers' committee in 2000. The Lahu God drum dance is performed by Maiya Art Troupe composed of local villagers. It is a kind of sacrificial dance in important festivals and sacrificial activities. The drum is placed in the "Bo Ye he Ye" (Buddhist Hall) at the head of the village. Shengu is about 2 meters long and 90 cm in diameter. It is chiseled by Sanhe trees. Both ends are covered with cowhide. The drum body is engraved with patterns of destiny flower, spring festival flower and valley flower. The drum is fixed on a shelf made of chestnut trees, which is decorated with ornaments of various shapes symbolizing human reproduction and abundant grain, as well as ornaments symbolizing the sun and the moon. Nanduan village, bakanai village and Nuofu village are the villages with the most abundant Lahu culture in Nuofu township.
