Shaoshan Township
Shaoshan Township, subordinate to Shaoshan City, Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, is located in the central and southern part of Shaoshan City, adjacent to Ruyi town in the northeast, Longdong town of Xiangxiang City in the south, Daping Township in the West and Yanglin Township in the north, with an administrative area of 98.55 square kilometers.
In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the lower seven capitals of Xiangtan County; in 1984, the commune was removed and Shaoshan township was changed. In 2015, the township division of Shaoshan City was adjusted, and Shaoshan Township and Daping Township were merged to establish Shaoshan township. By the end of 2018, the number of registered residence in Shaoshan was 34849. As of June 2020, Shaoshan township has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages, and the Township People's government is located in Zhuji section.
In 2011, Shaoshan Township achieved 27.81 million yuan of fiscal revenue, including 9.18 million yuan of national tax revenue and 10.48 million yuan of local tax revenue. The total output value of the enterprise was 2.795 billion yuan, up 20% year on year. The per capita net income of farmers was 12098 yuan, an increase of 17% over the previous year. In 2018, there were 16 industrial enterprises in Shaoshan Township, of which 8 were large-scale, and 10 were comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
Historical evolution
It is said that during the period of Tang and Yu, Emperor Shun went on a tour to the South and ordered his followers to play Shao music for 90% of the time.
In the Qing Dynasty, it was the seventh capital of Xiangtan County.
In the early years of the Republic of China, it belonged to the Second District of Xixiang, Xiangtan County.
In December 1932, it belonged to the Ninth District of Xiangtan County.
In 1947, it belonged to Qingtian township of Xiangtan County.
In January 1950, it belonged to the third district of Xiangtan County.
In 1951, it was changed into the fourth district.
In 1956, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, which was directly managed by Xiangtan County.
In 1958, the township was removed and the commune was changed.
In 1984, the commune was removed and Shaoshan township was changed.
In 2015, the township division of Shaoshan City was adjusted, and Shaoshan Township and Daping Township were merged to establish Shaoshan township.

Shaoshan township is mountainous in the northwest and flat in the southeast. It is a typical hilly terrain area with "Six Mountains and half water, two fields, one road and Manor". Shaofeng, the highest point, is 518.5 meters above sea level. The lowest point is 98 meters above sea level.

Shaoshan Township River belongs to Xiangjiang River Basin, the main channel is Shao River, which is the upstream of Yunhu River, the first branch of Lianshui River. Shao river has two sources: North and south. The south source originates from Dishui cave, Shaoshan. After the regulation and storage of Qingnian reservoir, Shaoshan River converges with the North source and flows through Chaoyang village and Shishan village. The river is about 16 kilometers long. Shaohe river is in flood season from April to June every year, and the rest is in dry season.
