Tuanshansi town is under the jurisdiction of Shishou City. It is located in the south of Jingzhou City and the west end of Shishou City. It covers an area of 66.86 square kilometers (in 2017) and has a population of 26503 (in 2017). It governs 18 administrative villages and 1 community. It is one of the important economic "kouzi towns" in Hunan and Hubei. From east to west, it borders Meitianhu Township, Huarong County, muluhu Township, Nanxian County, Sanchahe town and Guanlong Town, Anxiang County, Hunan Province. It is the junction of the two provinces and four cities (Jingzhou, Yueyang, Yiyang and Changde). It has the reputation of "one foot two provinces, Jiming four counties". In 1999, it was determined by the State Council that the provincial boundary is 32.1km long. The rivers, lakes, canals and rivers in the area are connected, and the counties, townships and villages are connected, with convenient land and water transportation.

The town center has a built-up area of 6.2 square kilometers, with reasonable planning and layout, scientific management, sound functional support, wide business radiation, and the specialized markets of furniture, clothing, building materials, small commodities and agricultural products with different characteristics have just taken shape. The urban permanent resident population is 9820, and the urbanization rate is 32.7%. The newly revised master plan of Tuanshansi town depicts a blueprint for the construction of key "kouzi town" in the future. Longteng Trade City, Tuanshan new area and Qiaotou new area are becoming new landmarks for the development of key "kouzi town" of Hunan Hubei border trade.

The town government is stationed in Tuanshan temple. Tuanshan was originally named Shuihu mountain. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Shuihu mountain was in Tuanshan River, surrounded by water. Name and origin
Tuanshan was originally named Shuihu mountain. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Shuihu mountain was in Tuanshan River, surrounded by water. There was a temple built on the mountain, and a famous person wrote a couplet on the temple: "Tuanshan turns all over the river, Penglai drowns in extraordinary places; the mountains stand alone, and mirage has its own sky." Later, Tuanshan became the name of the District, township and commune because the organizations of the District, township and commune were located here.
Historical evolution
During the Anti Japanese War, Shishou was occupied in 1943, and the county government was transferred to Tuanshansi town. In Tang, Yu and Xia dynasties, Tuanshan was the city of Jingzhou in Saigon, and it was the place of Jingchu in Shang Dynasty. In the Western Zhou Dynasty, it was a territory of the state of Chu. In the 23rd year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (224 BC), it belonged to Nanjun. In the Han Dynasty, there were 18 counties in Nanjun County, a corner of Huarong County in Hunan Province. During the Three Kingdoms period, it belonged to Huarong County. In 284 ad, Tuanshan belonged to Shishou county. In the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties, Tuanshan belonged to Huarong County. In the fourth year of Wude (621), Emperor Gaozu of the Tang Dynasty, Shishou county was restored, and Tuanshan District belonged to Shishou county. In song and Yuan Dynasties, it was Jiangling Prefecture. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Tuanshan belonged to Jingzhou Prefecture. In 1911, the revolution of 1911 overthrew the monarchy and established the Republic of China. In 1926, Tuanshan belonged to the South and west districts of Shishou county. In 1912, Tuanshan belonged to the West District 2 of Shishou county. Tuanshansi town is located at 112 ° 19 ′ E and 29 ° 36 ′ n. The longest distance between North and south of the town is 18 km, and the widest distance between East and West is 9.8 km. It belongs to lakeside hilly terrain with low mountains, lakes and hills. The terrain is high in Southeast and low in Northwest.
