History and culture
The origin of place names
In the atlas of changguozhou compiled by Yuan Dade in 1298, the place name of "Gan Shi lan'ao" appeared for the first time. For the origin of this name, the book's "Guanmen" data made a detailed explanation: "Guanmen, Quzhou two tides. Standing in the middle of the stream, there is a stone pillar that looks like a man standing with his hands arched. When the water is gathered here, if the whirling water boils, the boatman will float to kill the potential and pass by... " That is to say, Guanmen is the only way from Zhoushan Island to Daishan Island, and it is also the channel where the current is fast and endangers boats. Zhoushan has always said that "the boss is easy to be, but Guanmen is sad". Based on a psychological hint, the boatman named this humanoid sea erosion pillar dry stone, hoping that this stone is a mooring stone to protect the passing ships as stable as anchoring on the shore. Therefore, the place name of "Gan Shi Lan" came into being.
Cultural tradition
Ganlan paper cut
Ganlan's paper-cut art combines marine fishery culture and marine folk customs. It has not only the rough and strong of the north, but also the beautiful and bright of the south. It has not only the traditional folk paper-cut flavor, but also combined with the modern art concept, forming its own unique artistic style. The daily production and life of fishermen are often taken as the theme, which directly reflects the thoughts and feelings, aesthetic concepts and spiritual ideals of island working people, and is the condensation and crystallization of Chinese marine culture.
