Yuji town
Yuji town is located in the southwest of Shangcheng County, the north foot of Dabie Mountain, and the junction of Henan, Hubei and Anhui provinces. It borders Wuhe, Fengdian, Wangqiao and Guanmiao in the East, South and North, and faces Shawo town and baiqueyuan town in the West. It is 15.5 km long from north to South and 14 km wide from east to west. Yuji town is a "national key construction town", "Zhongzhou famous town", "provincial health town" and "municipal civilized town" planned by the former Ministry of construction. It is the traffic throat from Henan Anhui border to Wuhan in Hubei Province and the distribution center of Commerce and logistics in the southwest of Shangcheng County. On July 21, 2014, the Ministry of housing and urban rural development and other seven ministries and commissions announced the notice of the Ministry of housing and urban rural development and other departments on publishing the list of national key towns. Yuji town was rated as "national key town" and became one of the three national key towns in Shangcheng County. Yuji town is 15.5 kilometers long from north to South and 14 kilometers wide from east to west, covering a total area of 89.4 square kilometers, with 19000 mu of cultivated land, 80000 mu of mountain forest and 5000 mu of water surface, with a greening rate of 58%.
Yuji town has 2 neighborhood committees and 24 village committees: Yuji Street neighborhood committee, Dongmen Street neighborhood committee, Liwan village, Shiban village, Wenchong village, zhangchong village, Zhufan village, Pichong village, hechong village, Yingshui village, Liuwan village, huangwa village, Yixue village, Yangpeng village, Caoji village, Wantang village, Qianwan village, leichong village, Xiwan village, Yangwan village, Huawan village, Liantang village, Hongyang village and Longmen river Village, Xiangtang village, Wenqiao village.
There are 339 villager groups in the town, with a total population of more than 50000, a town area of 3.2 square kilometers and a permanent population of 16000. The town is rich in labor resources, with a total of 26000 people, including 14000 men and 12000 women. In the whole year, 17000 labor workers were exported, and the total labor economic income of the whole town reached 680 million yuan. The town has a beautiful environment, a strong momentum of economic development, and coordinated and steady development of various social undertakings.
Historical evolution
Yuji town has a long history. It was called longmenli in ancient times. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, yupuqing, Yu Siming and their sons, who were defeated by their descendants, settled here and named yujiaji. Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty was founded in 1475. It was once called Luoji and Leiji. During the reign of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty, there were four meters high, two meters wide and 500 meters long stone stockade built around the market town. There are turrets at four gates and sentry gates on the street. The main street is 600 meters long and 4 meters wide, with more than 1600 houses and more than 300 shops along the street, covering an area of 62000 square meters, mostly brick and tile houses. In the 1930s, Yuji's business was booming, with "three piles" of local cloth, board flour and fish seedling. It attracted investment in the city, and was known as "xiaohankou". During the great revolution, Shangguang peasant uprising, Yuji became the cradle of the red 25 army. In 1938, the Japanese army invaded Wuhan and destroyed hundreds of houses through Yuji. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was Dushan Township with jurisdiction over Yuji, Wuhe and Fengdian, and the government was stationed in Yuji. In November 1994, the township was removed and renamed Yuji town.
In the 21st century B.C., the Xia Dynasty was established. The whole country was divided into nine states, and the rest was under the jurisdiction of Yangzhou. During the Yin and Shang Dynasties (about 16th century BC to 11th century BC), it still belonged to Yangzhou. In the Western Zhou Dynasty (about 11th century bc-771 BC), it was under the jurisdiction of Jingzhou.
In the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770-256 BC), it was the land of the yellow state.
In the spring and Autumn period, in the summer of the 12th year of Duke Lu's reign (648 B.C.), Chu people destroyed Huang, belonging to the state of Chu and Yulou town (see Chunqiu Zuozhuan Zhu and Shangcheng County annals in the 30th year of Jiajing of Ming Dynasty). During the Warring States period, it was the southern border of Liang.
In 221 BC, the first emperor of Qin unified the whole country and divided it into 36 counties. Today, Yuji belongs to Jiujiang county. At the end of Qin Dynasty, Xiang Yu set up an army to attack Qin Dynasty, and established himself as the overlord of Western Chu. He appointed qingbu (yingbu) as the king of Jiujiang. Later, qingbu belonged to Liu Bang and was granted the title of king of Huainan, with the capital of six. Today, Yuji still belongs to it. In the fifth year of emperor Gaodi of Han Dynasty (202 BC), it belongs to the new capital of Runan County. During the reign of Emperor Wen of Han Dynasty (179-157 BC), it belonged to Yulou, Lujiang County. When Wang Mang became emperor (AD 9-23), it was a new extension of Lujiang County. At the beginning of the Eastern Han Dynasty, it belonged to Xinqi of the state of song.
During the Three Kingdoms period (220-280 AD), Yuji belonged to Yulou County, Anfeng Prefecture of the state of Wei. In the Western Jin Dynasty (265-316 AD), Yuji belonged to Yulou County, Anfeng County, Yuzhou.
In the Eastern Jin Dynasty (around 382 AD), it belonged to Yiyang County of Yuzhou. Southern and Northern Dynasties (AD 420-589) belong to Ruyin County, Song County
Sui Dynasty (589-618 AD) belongs to Yincheng County, Yiyang County.
The first year of Wude in Tang Dynasty (618 AD) belongs to Yizhou.
The first year of Tang Zhenguan (AD 627) belongs to Yincheng County, Guangzhou, Huainan.
During the Five Dynasties (907-960), it belonged to the state of Wu first, and then to the Southern Tang Dynasty.
In Song Dynasty, it belonged to Guangzhou Shangcheng County. In the Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to runing county.
In the early Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty, Yuji was named Longmen, which belonged to longmenli, Shangcheng County, Fengyang Prefecture, and later to Shangcheng County, Si runing Prefecture, Henan governor. In the 11th year of Chengzu of Ming Dynasty, Yuji town was built.
In the early Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Shangcheng County of Si runing Prefecture, Henan Province. In the second year of Yongzheng reign (1724 AD), Yuji belonged to Shangcheng County, Zhili Prefecture, Guangzhou.
At the end of Qing Dynasty, in 1910, the commercial city was divided into seven districts: Cheng, an, Kang, he, le and Qin. Yuji belongs to an District, which governs the area to the west of Chuyu mountain (including jinyuji, Wuhe, Wangqiao, Guanmiao and Fengdian).
After the revolution of 1911, it belonged to Shangcheng County, Henan Province. In 1931, it belonged to an District Soviet, in 1941 it belonged to Dushan Township, and in 1948 it belonged to Dushan district.
At the beginning of liberation, it belonged to Shangcheng County of Huangchuan Commissioner's office.
In 1952, Xinyang and Huangchuan merged into Xinyang District, and Yuji belonged to Shangcheng County. In 1956, the county was divided into Chengguan Town, Zhaifan District, Yangqiao District, Yuji District, Xindian District, Fengji District, shangshiqiao district and shuangchunpu district.
In 1958, the county was divided into eight people's communes: Lighthouse (now Chengguan town), satellite (now Changzhuyuan), iron and steel (now daquandian), Yuejin (now Fengdian, Yuji, Wuhe), Yuemei (now Guanmiao, Wangqiao, Nianyushan, Sanliping), Dongfeng (now Wanggang, Fushan), Chaoying (now Fengji, Liji, sigudun, suxianshi, hefengqiao), railway (now shangshiqiao, Wuqiao, baitaji, Shuangge) Pu, Yangang)
In 1961, the county was divided into 12 communes: Yuji, shangshiqiao, hefengqiao, Zhaifan, daquandian, sigudun, Chengguan, shuangchunpu, Changzhuyuan, Fushan, Wangqiao and Fengji. Yuji governs Fengdian, Wuhe Yuji and other places.
At the end of 1974, the county was divided into 18 communes. Fengdian commune and Wuhe commune were separated from Yuji commune. The administrative division of Yuji has not changed.
In 1978, Yuji commune was renamed Yuji township.
In 1994, Yuji moved from township to town.
Yuji town is one of the important areas where our party is engaged in revolutionary struggle. As early as 1927, there were party activities. In 1931, the CPC Shangguang border region special committee, Shangguang border region Revolutionary Committee and Anqu Soviet were stationed in Yuji town. In July 1931, the sixth branch of the hospital moved from Guangshan County to Yingshui village. In July of the same year, the Military Commission of the Fourth Red Army held a military meeting in Yuji, and the former site still exists.

As of 2017, the town (township) has a total administrative area of 89.4 square kilometers and a permanent population of 29627.
Yuji town is crisscrossed with hills and mountains. Reservoirs and ponds are rippling in it. Forests and grass slopes are green, and mulberry fields and terraces are winding. The climate is mild and resources are abundant. It mainly produces rice, wheat, sweet potato, tea, silkworm, chestnut, sesame, peanut, rape, cotton, etc. There are 14 small reservoirs and 1185 ponds.

Bailu river is also called Bailu river. In ancient times, it was called Pai water, commonly known as egret water. Because of its upstream coast often egrets flying, so the name. With a total length of 136 kilometers and a width of 70 meters, it is a Changliu river. It originates from Xiaojieling in Xinxian County, flows through Xinxian County, Guangshan County, Shangcheng County and Huangchuan County from south to North and joins Huaihe River. The total drainage area is 1900 square kilometers. From Yuji yuanwan into the county, it flows through the northwest border of the county and flows into Huangchuan County at the mouth of Wangqiao township.
