Nanyuan Township, belonging to Yihuang County, Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the north east of Yihuang County, adjacent to Nancheng County in the East, zhenkou Township in the south, Tangyin town in the West and Lixi town in the north. The township covers an area of 78.5 square kilometers, with 8 administrative villages and 56 villager groups. The township government is located in Nanyuan village, 36 kilometers away from Yihuang County. In late 2018, the registered residence of Nan Yuan Township was 9175.
Nanyuan Township mainly has rice, boiled bamboo shoots, wild kudzu powder, bamboo shoots and other crops and specialties. In recent years, it has developed the cultivation of Chinese herbal medicine such as yellow tea, Evodia rutaecarpa and Solidago aefolia, Dictyophora indusiae, kiwi fruit, organic rice, Xiangzhu, Cainiu, meat pigeon and other characteristic cultivation industries. During the period of the Republic of China, it belonged to Xianyuan Township, the Fifth District.
In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, Nanyuan Township, Cunzhong Township, Gangkou Township and Dongyuan Township belonged to the Fifth District (later changed to Tangyin District); in 1956, they were Nanyuan Township; in 1958, they were included in Tangyin commune; in 1961, they were Nanyuan commune; in 1967, they were renamed Shengli commune; in 1970, they were restored; in June 1984, they were renamed Nanyuan commune.
