Zeqin Township

Zeqin Township, subordinate to Ruijin City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the south of Ruijin City, bounded by Gucheng town and Sidu town of Changting County, Fujian Province in the East, baying Township in the south, Shazhouba town in the West and Xianghu town in the north. It is 2.5km away from the urban area. Ganruilong railway and national highway 206 cross the township.

Zeqin Township covers a total area of 254 square kilometers, including about 13600 mu of arable land and 310000 mu of mountainous area. It has 12 administrative villages and 191 villager groups under its jurisdiction, of which Guanghui village is the residence of the township government. According to statistics, there were 4528 households with a total population of 20200 in 2015.

Historical evolution

Today, Zeqin Township belongs to Fuxiang in Song Dynasty. In Ming Dynasty, Taoyang AI and Xinzhong AI were set up, which were under the jurisdiction of Changxiang Yili and Fuxiang Sili. In Qing Dynasty, they were under the jurisdiction of Zhongqu (with county seat) and Nanqu (with Wuyang). In Soviet period, they were under the jurisdiction of Taoyang district and Wuyang district. During the period of the Republic of China, there were Lingxiao Township, Huanggang Township, Shishui Township and Anzi township.

In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of Xianghu district and Wuyang district; in 1956, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, and Huanggang Township, Anzhi Township, Shishui Township and buquan Township were set up respectively; on September 19, 1958, Anzhi people's commune was established, and Mianjiang reclamation farm was a system of field community integration; in 1961, the field community was separated; in 1963, Shishui commune was merged into Anzhi commune; on January 1, 1969, it was in memory of Mao Zedong's younger brother, member of the central sub Bureau and member of the Red Army With the approval of the provincial government, martyr Mao Zeqin, the commander of the independent division, changed his name to Zeqin commune; on June 15, 1984, he withdrew the commune to build a township and changed his name to Zeqin township.

The origin of place names

Mao Zeqin, Comrade Mao Zedong's younger brother, fought and died here. In memory of him, he was named Zeqin township.

Red Culture

Zeqin township has always been a place for military strategists. During the Soviet period, Zeqin township was the earliest old Soviet Area and the oldest old guerrilla area. Liu Zhongen, Xie Renhe and Deng Xiping, the forerunners of Ruijin revolution in the early Soviet era, accepted Marxism Leninism in their youth. Nanchang Uprising troops came to Ruijin, joined the Communist Party of China and joined the revolution.
