tributary
The river in the nature reserve is a catchment stream in the upper reaches of Xizhijiang River, a tributary of Dongjiang River. There is Baipenzhu reservoir, the third largest reservoir in Guangdong with a capacity of 1.22 billion M. its water source is composed of six main water systems: (1) HengYao River, located in the southeast of the reservoir, is a large river converging with the main peak of Lianhua Mountain and the mountain streams in the forest catchment area nearby; (2) Xinfeng River, mountain forest in the northwest of Lianhua Mountain It is the largest river that flows into Baipenzhu reservoir, which is the upstream of Xizhi River.
climate
Lianhuashan Baipenzhu Provincial Nature Reserve in Huidong, Guangdong Province has a subtropical monsoon climate. The nature reserve has a wide range of vegetation, long streams, lush plant growth and fresh air. The results show that not only the concentration of air negative ions is high, but also the unipolar coefficient is very reasonable. Negative air ions can not only adsorb atmospheric dust particles and purify air, but also inhibit bacteria and fungi, which can not only keep human body fresh, but also promote the growth and development of organisms. Therefore, the establishment of the reserve can not only protect its good vegetation conditions and rare wild animal resources, but also play the role of negative air ions transmitting ecological environment and promoting human health.
The main peak of Lianhua Mountain is 1336m above sea level. The mountain is steep. There are outcropping rocks, bare ground, small shrubs and weeds interspersed in it, just like a beautiful landscape bonsai. On the top there are Guanyin stone and Guanyin statue for worshippers. The ancient temples and Lianhuashan temple in the area have a long history and are famous far and near. Believers from home and abroad come here to worship Buddha. There are hundreds of thousands of tourists to hot springs and reservoirs every year, which promotes the development of the tertiary industry in the reserve. The water surface of Baipenzhu reservoir is broad and rippling with blue waves. Waterfowls fly. When watching birds and boating, people in the lower reaches benefit from nature and need to protect nature. The content of negative ions in the air of the forest area is very high. According to the measurement, the highest concentration of negative ions near the Yukeng waterfall in the area reaches 100000 / cm. The concentration of negative ions in the broad-leaved forest is higher than that in the coniferous forest, forming a natural oxygen bar.
In addition, there are many natural landscapes in the area, including typical subtropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest landscape, south subtropical mountain grass slope, dense forest valley, clear stream and murmur of water. There are many steep rock waterfalls. The drop of tarokeng waterfall is 25m. It flows straight down, splashes and resonates in the mountain stream. Echo stone makes you feel the miracle of creation and experience the beauty of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
Lianhua Mountain, the main peak of the nature reserve, is the highest peak along the coast of eastern Guangdong, with an altitude of 1337 meters. Dongjiang Valley is in the southwest and Xizhijiang hinterland is in the northwest. There are many rivers flowing into Baipenzhu reservoir, the third largest reservoir in Guangdong Province.
In January 2004, the people's Government of Guangdong Province approved the establishment of Huidong Lianhuashan Baipenzhu provincial nature reserve.
