Changping township is a township under the jurisdiction of Shangli County, Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province. It is located in the southwest of Shangli County, on the border of Hunan and Jiangxi, with national highway 319 passing through and Liling City in Hunan Province in the West. The township government is located in Xinghui village, 20 kilometers away from the city and county governments. The total area is 94.2 square kilometers, including more than 13000 mu of paddy field and more than 82000 mu of mountainous area, and 90% of forest coverage. The main resources are coal, calcite, limestone, etc. the highest point in the territory is yunfengling, with an altitude of 692 meters. At the end of 2006, the township had 10894 households, with a total population of about 50000.
Historical evolution
It is named after changpingli. Its original name was changpingli, and it was renamed tanggongxiang in the second year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty.
During the period of the Republic of China, it was Changping District of Pingxiang county.
In 1950, it was Changping District of Pingxiang County, with jurisdiction over seven townships, namely Fushou, Changping, Jiaoyuan, Liujiang, Shiling, Luoxing and Shicheng.
In 1952, it was the 11th district of Pingxiang county.
