Tangchuan Township

Tangchuan township is located in the north of Daiyun mountains and the southeast of Youxi County. It is a small town full of vitality. It has jurisdiction over 17 administrative villages. Tangchuan has superior natural environment and convenient transportation environment, which can develop various industries and set up enterprises.

Because it is located in the high altitude area, the climate is pleasant, warm in winter and cool in summer; the forest resources are rich, and there are many kinds of trees; the river is abundant, and the water resources are rich; and there are rich mineral resources for development.

Tangchuan township is located in the north of Daiyun mountains, in the southeast of Youxi County, at the junction of Minqing and Yongtai in the southeast, Zhongxian Township, Xiwei Township and Taixi Township in the South and northwest, and Yangzhong town in the northeast. Tangchuan commune was established in 1958 and changed to township in 1984. In 1985, it had jurisdiction over 17 villages and 196 villager groups, and the township government was stationed in Guangming Village.

Since the reform and opening up, the economic construction of tangchuan township has achieved rapid development, with the per capita net income of 3358 yuan in 2003. Due to its high altitude, cool and humid climate, abundant rainfall (1790.9 mm per year) and heavy rain, it is very conducive to the development of pollution-free and organic agriculture. Tangchuan's off-season vegetables and "tangchuan" rice sell well both inside and outside the province. At present, Chaoda Modern Agricultural Group has developed 3000 mu of off-season vegetables in our Township, with an annual output value of more than 15 million yuan, and nearly 10000 mu of high-quality rice base. Phyllostachys pubescens, off-season vegetables and edible fungi are rich in resources, which are the three major resource bases cultivated in our Township in recent years.

The township has 58000 mu of all kinds of bamboo forest, with an annual output of 300 tons of all kinds of bamboo shoots, more than 10 million bags (square feet) of all kinds of edible fungi, and 5000 mu of off-season vegetables. It has 800 mu of organic tea, more than 1300 mu of pollution-free tea and nearly 1000 mu of general tea. According to the research of health experts, the tea produced by tangchuan contains tea polyphenols, water extract and caffeine, which are significantly higher than those of foreign tea, especially Puji tea. It can cure edema, cataract, hepatitis, dysentery, abdominal distension, dizziness and other diseases, and has high health care value and social and economic benefits. There are tangchuan organic tea base development, alpine health tea beverage factory, food freezing factory, native food company, KUWAN special aquaculture and other agricultural enterprises for development and investment.

Tangchuan is rich in water resources and abundant in rivers. The main rivers are Gaozhou River, Xinling River and Hualan River, with a total length of 46 kilometers and annual runoff of nearly 300 million cubic meters. The installed capacity can reach 24000 kilowatts, and 16000 kilowatts have been developed, ranking second in the county. The development potential of water resources is great. The existing dawangping regulating reservoir with a capacity of 11.5 million cubic meters and a total investment of 21.5 million yuan and several cascade hydropower stations can be developed.

Tangchuan is rich in forest resources. The existing forest land area is 360000 mu, and there are many kinds of trees. The forest coverage rate is 75%, and the timber volume is 2.1 million cubic meters, which is the highest in the county. Tangchuan has various geological structures and rich mineral resources. The proven and exploitable mineral resources in the township include lead-zinc, marble, quartzite, high phosphorous soil, gold, silver, copper, iron, porcelain soil, granite, peat soil, etc. with large storage capacity, they have not been exploited in large quantities up to now and have broad development prospects.
