Historical evolution
The tax town was set up in the Tang Dynasty. The government set up a tax collection card here, so it is called the tax town.
Shuizibu, shuizipu and shuizhenpu are the original names of tax towns in Taihe County. According to historical data, in the period of emperor Renzong of the Northern Song Dynasty (1023-1063 AD), the government got its name from the tax card. Since the end of Qing Dynasty, especially the war of Qing Dynasty, until the end of 1940s and the beginning of 1950s, Bengbu, Jieshou, Zhoukou, Luohe and other commercial ports have been flourishing and developing abnormally. Located on the Bank of Shahe River, upstream to the hinterland of Central Plains, downstream to the golden waterway of Huaihe River, and located at the junction of the two provinces, shuizipu has become a water wharf and a land "post station", and soon flourished Nanjing is also known as "Nanjing". Jieshou town was called "little Shanghai" at that time City walls and docks
As a tax card and commercial port, tax shop has walled villages, markets and docks.
The wall of shuizipu was built during the reign of Daoguang and Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (around 1850 A.D.). At that time, the Nien army was active here, and merchants surnamed Qi, Peng and Xu raked up buildings and raised funds to build them. The fortress wall is like a city wall, with crenels, gun holes, and ditches around it. There are five gates in the wall, namely east gate, west gate, north gate, Southeast gate, northwest gate, Shahe River in the South and shuimen. Each gate has a two-story gate tower, on which sentries are stationed. Each gate tower has a cannon called jiuxiaolei, which is about three meters long and is said to have a range of ten li. The area of Zhaili is only 2.5 square kilometers (originally planned to be 4-5 square kilometers), with a permanent population of more than 2000. Outside the village, a road passes through Dashiqiao from the east to the north to the West. The big stone bridge is like the single cage entrance of shuizipu. East and west to and fro merchants and their cars and horses in and out of tax zipu must pass through Dashiqiao. Dashiqiao has several large-scale inns. Every night, there are several groups of red cars pushing goods to stay. The next morning, the red car team was on its way again.
The scale and standard of shuizipu's Wharf is not comparable to that of Shahe waterway. From the South Bank of Shahe River, it is trapezoidal, with village trees as ground nails (Foundation), bricks and stones as base, glutinous rice juice mixed with lime for irrigation. The water face is about two feet high, and the upper platform is about 60 square meters. There are slopes in the East and West. The water is large and the water is small. Ships can berth, and it is very convenient to load and unload goods. On the Bank of Shahe River in front of the wharf, there are often dozens or hundreds of ships, ranging from Sunlou in the west to Zhangzhuang in the East. During the period of the Republic of China, Jieshou, Jiuxian and shuizipu were all equipped with "water conservation". There are more than 400 ships here. Usually, the porter of No. 100 is busy on and off the wharf. The porters picked up the 200 Jin salt bags and sacks of grain and walked away. At that time, there was a catchphrase in shuizipu: "the Toon head in Taihe County, the good Wharf in shuizipu, the felt strips in the old county, and the paper coming out of shiligou."
In summer night, the wharf is also a good place for residents to cool down. In the hot summer, residents came to the dock to cool off. Here, the boatman's lights are shining, the river breeze is blowing, and the chat is full of poetry. Sometimes, "fans" sing and players play. As people enjoy the cool and listen to the opera, they can enjoy the water scenery and the starry night sky.
