Gengcheng town

Gengcheng town belongs to Huangshan District, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. It is located at the north foot of Huangshan Mountain, with the center at 30 ° 24 ′ N and 118 ° 15 ′ E. It borders on Huangshan in the south, Gantang town in the north, sankou town in the East and Jiaocun town in the West. In 2010, Geng town had a total area of 122.31 square kilometers and a permanent population of 7833 (2017). The town government is located in Jinqiao village.

Evolution of organizational system

Gengcheng town was Wangxian township of Taiping County in ancient times, which remained unchanged from Tang, song, yuan, Li, Ming and Qing Dynasties to the early years of the Republic of China. in 1928, Taiping County set up five autonomous regions and Wangxian township was abolished. in 1939, the township was set up under the district. Originally Wangxian township was renamed Nanwang Township, and Rao village was set up by the township government. On April 28, 1949, the people's Government of Taiping County was established. In May, Nanwang township was set up, and Rao village was set up by township government. In August 1952, Nanwang township was abolished, belonging to Gantang district. In March 1956, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged. Goucun Township, Xinfu Township and gengcheng Township were merged and named gengcheng township. The Township People's government is located in Gou Village. In October 1958, gengcheng township was abolished and incorporated into Gantang people's commune. In July 1983, the rural system was restored and gengcheng people's commune was renamed gengcheng township. In 2000, the township was replaced by gengcheng town.

Geology and geomorphology

There is Huangshan granite in the south of gengcheng, which is divided into Huangshan granite and Shizilin granite. Taiping rock mass is located at the junction of furongling and Huangshan rock mass, and below furongling is Taiping rock mass, characterized by undulating hills and alternating basins. Gengcheng town has undulating mountains, high in the South and low in the north, most of which are hilly landforms. The peak forest landforms of Huangshan scenic spot in the south of the town can be divided into two types from south to north, i.e. steep hanging middle mountain and low mountain and hill in the north. In the southern middle mountain area, the slope is mostly between 60 and 74 degrees, forming many Intermountain valleys, including U-shaped Valley, V-shaped Valley and valley in valley. There are many remains of glacial boulders and ice stains in the valley. Most of the hills in the north are below 250 meters above sea level.
