Shannan town

Shannan town, located in the southwest of Feixi, is a provincial pilot town, bordering Lu'an City and Shucheng County, Zipeng Mountain National Forest Park in the north and fengle River in the south. It is named for its location in the south of Daqian mountain, with an area of 208.5 square kilometers (2017) and a total population of 60025 people (2017). The town has a permanent resident population of about 11700, which governs 26 administrative villages, one neighborhood committee and 637 villager groups.

Shannan town is located in the Northern Song Dynasty. It was named zhangzhouguan in the Qing Dynasty. In the Republic of China, it belonged to nine districts (granite District) of Hefei county. After 1949, it belonged to Shannan township of Feixi County. Shannan commune was established in 1958. Shannan town was established in 1972. In 1983, Shannan commune was merged into Shannan town and villages were led by towns.
