Yishan town

Yishan town is a famous underwear town in China. It is subordinate to Cangnan County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is located in the east of Cangnan County, commonly known as the center of Jiangnan plain. It is 15 kilometers away from the county seat. The town government is stationed in the new earth road. It has jurisdiction over 27 villages and 8 residential areas with a population of 51192 (in 2017).

Yishan town is adjacent to Longgang city and Qianku town Xianju district (former Xianju township) in the East, Wangli town and Qianku town Xin'an district (former Xin'an township) in the south, Longgang Yunyan District (former Yunyan township) and Jiangshan district (former Jiangshan township) in the west, and Longgang equal District in the North.

Historical evolution

Yishan got its name from the mountain. As far back as the Tang Dynasty, Yishan had become a village. The Guangfu temple at the foot of the mountain was built in the Xiantong period of the Tang Dynasty (861-874). It was named Nishan town in Song Dynasty and Yishan town in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. Emperor Xuantong ascended the throne in 1909 and changed his name to Yishan for avoiding Puyi's taboo. Yishan town was established in the early years of the Republic of China. The old name was used when the government was established after liberation in 1949. In 1958, it was called the management area of Yishan commune. In 1961, it was called Yishan commune. In 1964, the people's Government of Zhejiang Province promulgated it as a built-up town. In 1969, it was also called Yishan commune during the "Cultural Revolution". In December 1981, it was restored. In 1992, Tielong township was classified as Yishan town. In October 1993, Furong Village, which originally belonged to Xin'an township (now Xin'an community, under the jurisdiction of Qianku town), was classified as Yishan town.

In 2005, houlongzeng and Liangzhai villages, which originally belonged to Jiangshan township (now Jiangshan District of Longgang city), were included in Yishan town. Yishan is known as "the hometown of textile". The local cloth produced in Yishan is called tube cloth in ancient times. It has a long history. It is said that there were records of "farming rice, planting cotton and weaving by men and women" in Ming Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty, every household had spinning wheel and cloth machine. During the Anti Japanese War, the source of "foreign cloth" was interrupted, so the sales volume of cylinder cloth increased day by day. Industry
