Andong town
Andong town is an important town in the north of Cixi City, Zhejiang Province. It is located on the South Bank of Hangzhou Bay, in the middle of Ningshao plain in eastern Zhejiang, bordering Chongshou town and Hangzhou Bay New Area of Cixi Economic Development Zone in the East, Zhouxiang town and Changhe Town in the west, Zonghan street in the south, and Pinghu City and Haiyan County across Hangzhou Bay in the North.
Andong Town, founded in 1928, is one of the four earliest towns in Cixi City. It was once a special salt zone and an old revolutionary base area, known as "little Shanghai".
Andong town covers an area of 171.3 square kilometers (in 2017), with 23 administrative villages, 3 neighborhood committees (all of which are the integration of village and neighborhood), 7 communities, 83839 permanent residents (in 2017), and 50600 mu of cultivated land. Historical evolution
Andong area used to be a sea area.
In 1815, the Yongqing pond (now called Liutang) was built. It started from gaobeitang in the East and ended at Jiantang in the West. The middle part of the pond crossed the area. In 1848, Wansong nunnery was built on the north slope of Liutang. With frequent trade, it gradually became a market town. Because the market town was to the east of Wansong nunnery, it was called "Andong".
On May 24, 1949, Andong was liberated.
In June 1950, with the approval of Zhejiang provincial Party committee, Andong salt district established the working committee of Andong salt District of the Communist Party of China, and the people's Government of Andong special district was established. It is a grade D county with nine townships of Andong, Dongyi, Donger, Dongsan, Xiyi, Xier, Xisan, Chongshou and Gaoxing under its jurisdiction.
In May 1953, the provincial Party committee decided to abolish the establishment of the special economic zone, which belongs to Yuyao county.
In March 1954, the people's Government of Andong town was established, and the system of the special zone was restored, directly under the leadership of the special office of Ningbo Municipal Party committee.
In June 1956, the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China decided that Andong salt District belonged to the leadership of Cixi County.

In March 1959, Guangming people's commune was renamed Andong people's commune, and the first brigade was also renamed Andong management area.
In September 1961, the grand commune was abolished and the management area of Andong was renamed Andong people's commune.
In April 1981, the town system was restored and the people's Government of Andong town was established.
In May 1992, the former Xiyi, Xier and Dongyi townships were merged into Andong town.
In April 2010, the "decision on accelerating the development and construction of Ningbo Hangzhou Bay New Area" issued by Ningbo Municipal Party committee and government and the notice issued by the general office of Ningbo municipal government clearly indicated that there are 11 administrative villages in Andong Town, 10 administrative villages (4 in Andong Town, 3 in Chongshou town and 3 in Xinpu town) and 2 administrative villages in Zhouxiang town entrusted by Cixi City to be managed by the Rural Work Office of the new area, with a total of 23 administrative villages owned by Ningbo Hangzhou Bay Temporary transitional trusteeship in the new area.
In October 2010, Hangzhou Bay New District of Ningbo entrusted all the 10 administrative villages managed by the rural work office to Andong town for unified management.
In November 2011, with the approval of Zhejiang Provincial Department of civil affairs, the administrative division of Andong town was adjusted. Matanlu village, xiayizao village and Pudong village originally belonging to Xinpu Town, Fubei village, Hainan village and Sanyang village in Chongshou Town, Luwan village and Xisan village in Zhouxiang Town, together with 73.72 square kilometers of reclaimed area, were officially under the jurisdiction of Andong town.
In December 2012, with the approval of Cixi Municipal People's government, Andong town set up seven new communities, namely Shuangpu, Yuexi lake, Yuelin lake, Guantang, wanghaichao, shuiluwan and Century City (the new area is clearly managed by Andong town's entrusted Social Development Bureau).

Geology and geomorphology
Most of Andong town is surrounded by tideland, and the soil salt content is high. The upper part of the geological layer is composed of clay and silty clay with weak water permeability, while the deep part is composed of sandy clay and Lousha with good water permeability. The groundwater level is obviously affected by seasonal precipitation.
Climatic characteristics
Andong town is located in the coastal zone of mid latitude subtropical seasonal climate zone. The temperature of the whole town is controlled by the alternating cold and warm air mass and the seawater of Hangzhou Bay. It has four distinct seasons, with obvious rainy season and dry season. The climate is mild and humid.
