Historical evolution
Jianggao town has a long history. According to the records of the town, since the Ming Dynasty, the imperial court has set up the management organization of mudris in Jiangcun village, which covers the whole Yubei, Conghua and some areas of Huaxian county. It has been more than 400 years since now, and can be called a historical town.
In the early Qing Dynasty, there were the famous markets of Datong and Gaotang in Jianggao area, which became the distribution center of agricultural and sideline products in Yubei area. During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, there were Lianhu ritual school and Tongfeng ritual school, which became the center of rural culture and education. Zhou rujun, an educator and diplomat at the end of the Qing Dynasty, was a native of Nangang village, where he also had his simple former residence and a hundred year old plaque.
In modern times, Yubei people's Heroes made glorious deeds of resisting Japan. Jianggao was the political, cultural and economic center of Yubei before liberation. After the founding of new China, yubeilian Township Office was also located in Jiangcun market. The central area of Jianggao town was originally Jiangcun market and Gaotang market built in the Qing Dynasty. They were destroyed by the Japanese invaders in 1938 and rebuilt after the victory of the Anti Japanese war. The two markets were merged and named "Jianggao town".
In the early days of liberation, Jianggao town belonged to Panyu county. In 1958, it was changed to the suburb of Guangzhou City and the people's commune was established. In 1964, it was assigned to Huaxian County, and in 1966, it became a suburb. Before 1985, Jiangcun district was divided into two administrative organs, Jianggao town government (town) and Jiangcun District Office (rural), which were combined into the new Jianggao town government.
On August 8, 1959, Shilong people's commune was set up in Shenshan market. In 1984, it was renamed Shilong District and set up a district office. Since January 1987, the suburb of Guangzhou has changed its name to Baiyun District and Shilong District to Shenshan town.
In 2004, the former Jianggao town and the former Shenshan town were merged into Jianggao town.
Gaotangxu is located on the West Patriotic Road of the town. In the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, the gentry of Yubei built a new market at the foot of jiangxialing, which was named Jifu street, with only 50 or 60 shops. In 1881, the directors of the board of directors of the 18th commune held a meeting to discuss how to mobilize the villages to raise funds for the purchase of tens of acres of sandy land in Gaotang and the construction of Gaotang market. A total of 992 shares were acquired, totalling 198412. It took more than two years to build the Gaotang new market. The first and sixth periods were designated as the market period. The villagers from Yubei, Huaxian and Nanhai flocked to the market, which became the business center of Yubei. GAOTANG market is located in the lower reaches of Liuxi River. Ships from Conghua, Zhuliao, Renhe and Benghu gathered in Gaotang and transferred to Guangzhou via Gaotang
