Xinpu town

Xinpu town is subordinate to Cixi City, Zhejiang Province. It is located in the north suburb of Cixi, the south of Hangzhou Bay and the coast of the East China Sea. It connects Fuhai Town in the East and Southeast, Qiaotou town, Xiaolin town and Shengshan town in the south, Chongshou town in the West and Northwest, Hangzhou Bay in the north and northeast, 65 km away from Ningbo City and Beilun port in the East and 130 km away from Hangzhou City in the West.

Historical evolution

In the early years of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty, a new river named Xinpu was excavated to connect laopu (poshanpu), and its jurisdiction was on both sides of Xinpu, so it was named "Xinpu". In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Shanglin Township and belonged to Yuyao county. in 1912, it belonged to Lindong Township and Linxi Township respectively. Xinpu township was established in 1930. In April 1950, Xinpu township was divided into three townships: Xinpu, Yangpu and Shuiyun. In October 1954, it was put under the jurisdiction of Cixi County. In February 1956, the three townships of Xinpu, Yangpu and Shuiyun merged and remained Xinpu township. In June 1959, it was changed into Xinpu, Yangpu and Shuiyun management areas of Xiaolin commune. Xinpu commune was established in November 1961. In September 1983, it was restored to Xinpu township. in September 1987, Xinpu town was established, which is still guicixi county. In 1988, Cixi County was changed into Cixi City (county level), and Xinpu town is under the jurisdiction of Cixi City. In May 1992, Shengbei and dongsanxiang were merged into Xinpu town.
