It got its name from Chaiqiao. Originally belonging to Haiyan Township and Taiqiu township of Yin County, Haiyan township was assigned to Dinghai county (later renamed Zhenhai) in 1077. In 1945, it was divided into Chaiqiao town and Chuanshan, Zishi and Lihe townships. In August 1950, it was called Chaiqiao town and Shanmen, Chuanshan, Zhendong, Hongao, Chensheng, Zishi and Lihe townships. In 1956, it was called Chaiqiao Town, Chuanshan Township and Zishi township. Geography

Street history
Chaiqiao has a long history. According to the "multi-layer gray surface site" excavated in Sheshan, Shaxi village in 1978, and the stone tools excavated in Hongxi village, it is confirmed that human beings began to survive and multiply here as early as the Neolithic age. Before 1985, it was called Chaiqiao town and Zishi township. In July 1985, it was renamed as Chaiqiao town and Zishi Township in Binhai District (Beilun District in July 1987). In May 1992, Zishi Township and Kunting Township were abolished and merged into Chaiqiao town. In August 2003, the town was removed and streets were built. At the same time, six villages in Kunting Township were assigned to Chunxiao town. Since 1884, there have been passenger and cargo ships berthing at Chuanshan wharf, and they have been sailing to Shanghai, Ningbo, Dinghai, Wenzhou, Haimen, Yaobei and other places.
