Yaolin town

Yaolin town is a town under the jurisdiction of Tonglu County, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is located in the west of Tonglu County. It is one of the four poles of Tonglu County. Yaolin town was a part of Tonglu County to Xixiang, Zhidong Township and Fenshui County Yongan Township, Taian Township and Fenshui County Zhaoxian Township before 1949. It was merged into Tonglu County Bipu commune in 1958, restored Township and village system in 1984, renamed Yaolin town from Nanxiang Township in 1988, and merged into Bipu Township and Gaoxiang Township in 2004.

The administrative area of Yaolin town is 217 square kilometers, with a total population of 31000. Yaolin town has a famous Yaolin fairyland scenic spot in China. It is located on the golden tourism line of Hangzhou Qiandao Lake Huangshan. The provincial roads S302 and S208 pass through the town, receiving more than 1.5 million tourists annually. It is known as the "No.1 tourism town in China".

Evolution of organizational system

Before 1949, it was part of Tonglu County to Xixiang and Dongxiang, Fenshui county to Yong'an Township, Tai'an Township and Fenshui county to Zhaoxian township.

In 1958, Tonglu and Fenshui counties merged into Bipu commune.

In October 1961, Tonglu County rebuilt the district level system, which is divided into four communes, Zhinan, Bipu, Gaoxiang and Baisui, belonging to Bipu district.

In December 1962, Bipu district was merged into the water diversion area.

In December 1971, the water distribution area was abolished, and the two-level system of county and community was still implemented.

In 1984, the township and village system was restored to Zhinan Township, Bipu Township, Gaoxiang Township and Baisui township of Tonglu County.

In 1988, Nanxiang was renamed Yaolin town.

In 1992, Baisui township was merged into Bipu township.

In 2004, Bipu Township and Gaoxiang Township were merged into Yaolin town.
