Shuangdui market town

Shuangdui market town belongs to Suixi County, Huaibei City, Anhui Province. It is located in the southernmost part of Suixi County, bordering Nanping town of Suixi County in the northwest, Yongqiao District of Suzhou City in the northeast, Huaiyuan County of Bengbu City in the South and Mengcheng County of Bozhou City in the West. The maximum distance from east to west is 19 kilometers, and the maximum distance from north to south is 22.6 kilometers, covering a total area of 253.48 square kilometers. The town has a cultivated land area of 260000 Mu and a population of 106466 (2017). It governs 23 administrative villages and 384 natural villages. It is a pure agricultural town. The economy is dominated by agriculture, supplemented by aquaculture and processing industry.

Shuangduiji is the main battlefield of the Huaihai Campaign. The shuangduiji martyrs' cemetery is one of the patriotic education demonstration bases.

Historical evolution

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it belonged to Suzhou. in the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Suzhou was changed to Suzhou County, which belongs to Suzhou County, Anhui Province. On September 20, 1950, Suxi county was replaced by Suxian county. On November 13, 1950, Suxi county was changed to Suixi County. Suixi County set up shuangdui District, the 11th district under the jurisdiction of the county. In 1951, Suixi County set up 10 districts, and shuangdui District governed 12 townships, including Caofang, Lugou, Luoji, Xiedian, pingdui, Sanhe, Shuhe, Nanping, Zhangwei, Liulou, Chenji and shuangdui. In 1951, shuangdui township was established. In August 1958, shuangdui township was merged into Nanping township. In September of the same year, the people's commune was established and shuangdui was incorporated into Nanping commune. At the end of 1961, the district system was restored, and shuangdui commune was under the jurisdiction of Nanping district. In March 1969, shuangdui commune was established. In December 1980, shuangdui was re divided into seven communes: shuangdui, Banpu, Nanping, Sanhe, Lugou, Luoji and Chenji. In 1983, shuangdui district was changed into shuangdui township. In February 1992, shuangdui market town was set up. In 1997, it governed 22 villages including shuangdui, pingdui, jiandui, Mayuan, Houzhou, Wangyuan, Zhangwei, Shenhu, Lugou, liumiao, Lidiao, Chenqiao, Wangmiao, Wujing, Liwei, zouwei, Caofang, Zhenggou, huangang, Zhouwei, Shiliu and Lihu. In March 2006, 17 villages, including Sanhe Village, Weiwei village, Zhumiao village, Gaojia village, Xiedian village, Chenji village, magou village, Zhangji village, Simen village, Zhaoyuan village, Daqiao village, Liyuan Village, Luoji village, Liulou village, Daxu village and xiongmiao village, were merged into shuangdui town. In March 2007, shuangdui town was merged from 39 villages into 23 villages.
