Yangzhou national high tech Industrial Development Zone, formerly known as Hanjiang Economic Development Zone, was approved as national high tech Industrial Development Zone by the State Council on September 29, 2015.
Yangzhou high tech Industrial Development Zone started construction in 2001, and was approved as a provincial Economic Development Zone by the provincial government in 2006. In 2012, the Industrial Development Planning Review Committee of Yangzhou high tech Industrial Development Zone in Jiangsu Province was established, which reviewed the development planning of Yangzhou high tech Industrial Development Zone in Jiangsu Province and passed it in principle. In November 2012, the Jiangsu Provincial People's government "suzhengfu (2012) No. 100" made a decision on the development planning of Yangzhou high tech Industrial Development Zone Jiangsu Yangzhou Hanjiang Economic Development Zone renamed Yangzhou high tech Industrial Development Zone in Jiangsu Province. In September 2015, he was promoted to the national high tech Industrial Development Zone.
On April 16, 2016, Yangzhou national high tech Industrial Development Zone held a construction promotion conference. Yin Hejun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of science and technology, and Zhang Jinghua, vice governor of the province, attended the meeting and jointly unveiled and addressed Yangzhou national high tech Zone. The meeting was addressed by Xie Zhengyi, Secretary of Yangzhou municipal Party committee, and presided over by Zhu minyang, mayor of Yangzhou.
Yangzhou national high tech Zone, with a total planning area of 60 square kilometers, extends to West Jiangyang road in the north, high-grade highway along the river in the south, wutagou in the West and the ancient canal in the East. Four blocks, namely North Park, South Park, West Park and Chahe area, have been formed and 14.8 square kilometers have been completed.

In 2014, Yangzhou high tech Zone achieved a GDP of 35.8 billion yuan, a total industrial output value of 106.8 billion yuan and a fiscal revenue of 4.2 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of more than 20%. All major economic indicators have maintained a growth rate of more than 20% for many years, ranking fifth in Jiangsu Provincial Development Zone.
