Menglong town
Menglong town is located in the southwest of Jinghong City, bordering GASA town in the north, Bulang village in Bulang mountain of Menghai County in the northwest, and Nanban County, the fourth special zone of Shan State in Myanmar in the southeast.
As of 2014, Menglong town has a land area of 1384.19 square kilometers, 22 villages and 107353 permanent residents (2017).
Menglong town belongs to tropical and subtropical humid monsoon climate. On May 20, 2006, Menglong town's "Dai slow wheel pottery making technique" was approved by the State Council and listed in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. In 2014, Menglong town achieved a GDP of 831 million yuan. On October 15, 2020, it won the poverty alleviation advanced collective award of Yunnan Province in 2020.
Evolution of organizational system
According to the records of mengben and gazetteer of Jinghong City in Yunnan Province, Menglong is a Dai language, and "Meng" means Bazi or a place.
