Beichenji town

Beichenji town is subordinate to Guannan County, Jiangsu Province. It is located in the north of Guannan County, 18 kilometers away from Guannan county. It is connected with national highway 204 in the East, Ninglian Expressway in the west, Guanhe River in the south, Xinyi River in the north and Guanyun across the river. It is named after Chenji street where the town government is located. It is a historical and cultural town with a long history. "Jiuli eighteen Duns" distributed in the territory. It is a tomb site of the ancient Han Dynasty. The cultural relics excavated in the pier include ancient copper coins, tomb bricks, pottery, etc., which provide rich information for the study of the history of Guannan area.

The total area of the town is 55.26 square kilometers (in 2017), which governs one community, 14 administrative villages, with a total population of 38140 people (in 2017).

In July 2020, it won the honorary title of national health Township from 2017 to 2019.

Historical evolution

In the fourth year of Taichu period (101 BC), Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty granted Li Guangli the title of Marquis of Haixi, and his territory was his territory;

During the Yuan Dynasty, the provincial system was implemented, and the province had jurisdiction over Dao, Zhou and Xian. Most of the territory belongs to Qushan County, which belongs to Haining Prefecture, huaidong Road, Jiangbei Province, Henan Province.

In the first year of Hongwu (1368) of Ming Dynasty, Haining Prefecture was renamed Haizhou;

In 1645, Haizhou was changed into Zhili Prefecture, belonging to Huai'an Prefecture;

In 1912 (the first year of the Republic of China), Haizhou was abolished. Haizhou was divided into Donghai County and Guanyun county. The territory belonged to Xinguan city of Guanyun county;

In 1930 (18 years of the Republic of China), the national government implemented the system of district and township, which was subordinate to the third district of Guanyun county;

In 1942 (31 years of the Republic of China), it belonged to the second company of Guandong office;

In 1945, after the victory of the Anti Japanese War, the Guandong office was abolished and the original area under its jurisdiction was assigned to Guanyun County, which belonged to Chenji District of Guanyun county;

In 1950, Chenji district was abolished and the territory was classified as Xin'an district;

In 1957, the district was withdrawn and merged into townships, and Xin'an district was abolished. The eight townships under the jurisdiction of Xin'an district were merged into Zhangdian, Chenji, sankou and Xin'an town;

On March 1, 1958, Guannan county was established with the approval of the State Council, which was subordinate to Huaiyin special district of Jiangsu Province. Chenji township was changed to Guannan county from then on;

In September 1958, the people's commune movement began in Guannan. Chenji township was changed into Chenji people's commune, and the area under its jurisdiction was changed into production brigade;

In May 1981, Chenji commune was changed into beichenji commune;

In 1983, the government and society were divided into two groups: the former commune was used to build the township, the production brigade was used to build the village, and the beichenji commune was changed into beichenji township;

In May 1987, beichenji township was changed into beichenji town.

In 1945, Guanyun county established Chenji District, under the jurisdiction of six townships: Shanglin, touzhuang, zi'an, Yongxing and Chenji;

After 1949, Zhangdian, Zhongxin, Zelong, Longwu, cenchi and Hexing were added;

In 1950, Chenji district was abolished and 11 townships under its jurisdiction were merged into five townships, namely Zhangdian, Zelong, Yongxing, Longwu and Chenji;

In 1957, the district was withdrawn and merged with the township, Xin'an district was abolished, and the original jurisdiction area was merged into Chenji township. Chenji township has 18 villages under its jurisdiction;
