Shi Shisheng, male, born in January 1920 in Chongming, Shanghai. Professor, Department of civil engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing.
Personal resume
He graduated from the Department of civil engineering of Central University in July 1941. From 1941 to 1947, he successively served as assistant professor and lecturer in the Department of civil engineering of Central University and central Polytechnic College. From 1947 to 1950, he studied in the United States and graduated from the Graduate School of the University of Michigan with a master's degree and a doctor's degree in science. In 1950, he was elected as a member of sigmaxi and phi kappa Phi honorary societies. From 1950 to 1955, he was a senior engineer of Diddy and New York City architectural design company. He participated in the structural system reform of high-rise slab column residential buildings in the United States in the early 1950s and initiated the adoption of reinforced concrete slab column structure. After returning to China in 1955, he became professor of Civil Engineering Department of Tsinghua University and chief engineer of Civil Engineering Design Institute of Tsinghua University.
Main contributions
In 1964, Tsinghua University Press published reinforced concrete single story factory building as a teaching material. As for the education of students, we should pay attention to both morality and talent. From 1959 to 1965, he was also a member of the five member leading group for the discussion and formulation of 13 national codes for civil structures. he began to study the frame light slab slab column system residence in 1975. He won the second and third prizes of Beijing from 1978 to 1984, and published 9 papers. From 1981 to 1992, he went to the Research Institute of New York State University in buffalo to teach advanced reinforced concrete and structural mechanics. He and Professor Li Zhaozhi, Dean of the school of science and technology of the University, were supported by the National Science Foundation of the United States, and cooperated in the research on the durability and seismic performance of concrete in frozen areas. Ten papers were published in ASCE. Recently, a paper has been published, pointing out that high strength concrete should be used as much as possible in concrete engineering, especially in frozen areas, so as to increase its durability.
