Zhang Yu, the word public, Jizhou Dongguang (now Dongguang County, Hebei Province) people. A scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty, he wrote the biography of the seventeen history generals.

Zhang Yu, born in Dongguang of the Southern Song Dynasty, is a public character and author of biography of seventeen history generals. Sun Tzu's art of war, annotated by Zhang Yu, quoted the history of the war but not complicated, distinguished the subtle but not subtle.
