Meng Zongxian, a native of Kaifeng (now Henan Province), was named "friend" and "Xu Jing Ju Shi". The year of birth and death is unknown. Jin Shizong Dading three years (1163) kuweike champion.

Life

When Meng Zongxian was young, he was very intelligent and good at poetry. However, he was too conceited and failed in the first test. Since then, Meng Zongxian has been modest and studious, and his studies have improved day by day. Once again, he won the first place in the local examination. The examiner Yang Boren praised his article and recommended it to the king of Hailing. At that time, Meng Zongxian even went to the government for examination, provincial examination and court examination, all of which won the first place. His reputation spread in the government and the public, and he was called "Meng Siyuan" by the time. Meng Zongxian was the only "four yuan" champion in the history of imperial examination in China.

After the number one scholar in the imperial examination, Meng Zongxian was appointed by Jin Shizong as an imperial priest. Soon after, he served in Danzhou. Meng Zongxian was filial to his parents. His mother died of illness. Due to excessive grief, Meng Zongxian also died at home during mourning.

Meng Zongxian is an elegant writer with a tranquil temperament. He wrote a collection of poems and Jindan Fu. It is lost now. There is a poem written by Bodhisattva in Zhongzhou Yuefu.

In addition, Meng Zongxian wrote a poem named "Zhang Zhongshan's nest": "a person who has reached the top of the world is lonely, and it's just a moment to send it for a hundred years."

With Wang Chongyang

In 1169 ad, Wang Chongyang led Qiu Chuji and other four disciples to Kaifeng and lived in Wang's porcelain residence. In Kaifeng, Wang Chongyang accepted Meng Zongxian as his apprentice. After Wang Chongyang died in Kaifeng in 1170, his funeral was arranged by Meng Zongxian. Wang Chongyang's coffin was temporarily housed in the back garden of the Meng family.
