Zhou Maoqi
(AD 1836-1896), Ziyu, Han Hou, was born in Jixi, Anhui Province. When he was young, he moved to TongZhou (now Nantong, Jiangsu Province) with his father in business. In the late Qing Dynasty, a patriotic official whose official career involved Fujian, Taiwan, Tianjin, Hubei and other places. He also led overseas students to study in Britain and France as a member of Fuzhou Shipping Bureau. He was a down-to-earth practitioner of the Westernization Movement in the late Qing Dynasty. His book "the illustration of Taiwan" has become an iron proof that Diaoyu Island has been China's territory since ancient times
