Facial examination
Yan Jian (1757-1832) was born in Lianping County of Guangdong Province, the son of Yan xishen, governor of Yunnan Province, and an official in the middle of Qing Dynasty.
Bagongsheng was born. In 1793, Yan Jian was appointed magistrate of Ji'an, Jiangxi Province. Later, he was appointed yanfadao in Yunnan Province and transferred to binbidao in Yinan. In the second year of Jiaqing (1797), he was promoted to Jiangxi provincial governor and Henan provincial governor. In 1832, Yan Jian died at the age of 75.
Yan Jian served the emperors of Qianlong, Jiaqing and Daoguang in Qing Dynasty. He had ups and downs all his life. Shangshu Jinyan was often punished. He was deceived by his subordinates when he listened to the lies. He was demoted and dismissed because of his subordinates' crimes. He even repaired the dike at the Yongdinghe construction site in the west of Beijing and garrisoned in Urumqi. In his later years, he ended up with a five grade title.

A new official career
Yan Jian, whose name is Xingfu, was born in Lianping, Guangdong Province. His father, Yan xishen, was an official of the Ministry of war. In 1777, Yan Jian served as a tribute to the Emperor Qianlong, and served as the official of Qipin small capital. From then on, he was promoted to a doctor. in 1793, he served as the magistrate of Ji'an Prefecture in Jiangxi. In 1794, Yanjian was promoted to yanfadao in Yunnan Province. In the first month of the second year of Jiaqing (1797), Yan Jian was transferred to Yinan road. In April, he suppressed the bandits in Weiyuan and led his soldiers to capture the bandit leader zadu, who was praised by the emperor and awarded the title of inspector. In December of the same year, he was promoted to Jiangxi inspector general. In the fourth year of Jiaqing (1799), he was promoted to governor of Henan Province, and later he was transferred to governor of Zhili.
Outside Zhili
In the fifth year of Jiaqing (1800), Yan Jian was appointed to nurse the governor of Zhili. During his term of office, Yan Jian was praised by Emperor Jiaqing for his leniency and propriety in the trial of two wounding cases. In 1801, Yan Jian was the governor of Henan Province. In 1802, Emperor Jiaqing appointed Yan Jian as a former Zhili vassal and a direct nursing supervisor. He was conscientious and accomplished a lot in his official work. He ordered the Minister of the Ministry of war to be the governor of Li Zhili. Later, he officially took up the post. In February of 1804, when the Beijing inspection was completed, Emperor Jiaqing managed to handle all the local affairs due to the Yan inspection, so he reluctantly discussed it.
Official frustration
In July of the same year, Wang Hongzhong, a resident of Shulu County in Zhili, was injured in a fight with Zhang Wenguan and appealed to the government. Wang Hongzhong was accused of hanging himself because he listened to one side. After a review by the Ministry of punishment, it was found that Yan Jian had not tried the case personally, which led to the reversal of right and wrong, and he was dismissed and retained. In May of the 10th year of Jiaqing (1805), Chen Peng, the governor of Yizhou, was in office for eight years. He was not aware of the case of losing more than 100000 liang of money, grain and silver. As the governor, Yan Jian once served as the vassal and governor of Zhili. He never played the role according to the facts. He did not pay close attention to the investigation and was responsible for the ineffective investigation. He should have been dismissed and punished. The emperor broke the rules and gave him the title of principal. He worked in the linglingjidi engineering office, but still remained on his behalf Ren. In September of the 11th year of Jiaqing (1806), it was found out that Zhili officials, Muyou and changsui colluded with each other and embezzled the official money of the country at will, but successive governors and vassals were unaware of it. Yan Jian was removed from his head and sent to Urumqi for atonement. He was released in 1808.
To be used again
In the 14th year of Jiaqing (1809), Yan Jian acted as the supervisor of Xicang. Jiaqing 15 years (1810), transferred to the head of the Department. Later, he was granted the title of "Changfeng Road" in Yue county of Hunan Province. Soon, he was appointed as the inspector general of Yunnan Province. Jiaqing 16 years (1811), granted governor of Guizhou. In the 19th year of Jiaqing (1814), he was granted the salt transportation envoy of Shandong Province. In July, sanpindingdai was the governor of Zhejiang Province. During this period, water conservancy was set up to dredge the West Lake.
Second demotion
In 1815, there were several local criminal cases. Yan Jian failed to rectify seriously due to his negligence. He was first reprimanded and dealt with by the Ministry of communications. Later, he was dismissed and returned to his native country, thinking about his mistakes behind closed doors.
Character's old age
Yan Jian lived at home for more than four years. In 1819, he went to Beijing to celebrate the emperor's birthday. In 1820, he was the governor of Fujian Province. In the first year of Daoguang (1821), Yan jianshangshu proposed to stop paying tribute to litchi tree and suxinlan, which attracted the emperor's attention and was promoted to governor of Zhili in the first month of the next year. In three years (1823), Yan Zhao returned to Beijing because of his age. He was sent to the Ministry of Commerce and then transferred to the warehouse. Daoguang four years (1824), granted water transport governor. In the fifth year of Daoguang (1825), Yan Jian was reprimanded for "silting up the river and stagnating the water channel", and was given the title of "three grades". Soon after, because Shangshu said that he was afraid of delay in checking the situation of salt transportation on the ship, he asked for help to complete the case and stop the storage preparation. He was reprimanded by the emperor, and Yan Jian was reduced to five grades. In 1832, Yan Jian was ill and died at the age of 75.
Main achievements
Yan Jian was upright, just, lenient and decent, and was praised by the emperor. In addition, he also paid attention to the rectification of river affairs. In July of the eighth year of Jiaqing (1803), the Yongding river overflowed. Yan Jian was stationed at the construction site to prevent the flood and protect the construction site, so as to stabilize the riverbank and ensure the safety of the people. On the governance of Yongding River, Yan Jian wrote "Zhili river situation Dredging", analyzed the river location, structure, river overflow, and put forward the Countermeasures of dredging the blockage, cutting the Bay and straightening, which played a positive role in the governance of Yongding River.

Commemoration of later generations
Yan Jian's tomb is located in the middle of naoshan mountain, Pingshan Town, Xichang Town, Dongyuan County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province. The tomb is one of the large-scale tombs in Modern Guangdong. From right to left, there are three lines of inscriptions on the tombstone. The right line records the date of "December 24, the 13th year of Daoguang". The middle line records the main character of the tomb, which is "Xiankao, a senior official of Ronglu granted by the emperor in Qing Dynasty", and the left line inscribes "nanbotao Jingzhi". The epitaph of Longtou's tortoise body is as follows: "Mr. Rong Lu was granted by Gao, the prince Shaobao, the Minister of the Ministry of war and the censor of the capital, the governor of Zhili, the Minister of the Ministry of war and the right deputy censor of the capital, the governor of water transport, the governor of Zhejiang and Fujian, the governor of Fujian, Zhejiang, Guizhou and Henan, the Minister of cangchang, and the Minister of Hubu." After a line of regular script characters: "enjoy wearing a yellow jacket, huangqingyan cemetery." It was signed as "giving Jinshiji, Guanglu, Jingyan Jiangguan, Secretary of the Ministry of war, President of the National History Museum, former vice president of the Imperial military examination, and Wang Zongcheng, the nephew of Tongjia". in 1986, the people's Government of Heyuan County announced the tomb of Yanjian as a cultural relic protection unit.
