Character controversy
None of Zhang's poems has been handed down. Most of the predecessors confused Zhang's life with Zhang Bi (Zi Cheng), a writer in the late Tang Dynasty. Because Zhang's "Bi" in the Southern Tang Dynasty and Zhang's "Bi" in the late Tang Dynasty were both read as B ì, which was homophonic and similar in form, there were some people who mistakenly read "Bi" as "Bi". The whole song poetry not only mixes Zhang Yu and Zhang Bi into one person, but also collects all Zhang Bi's poems in the late Tang Dynasty. Refer to the appendix of Li dingguang's research on literature in troubled times in the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, judgment of the case of Zhang Mi in the Millennium (China Social Sciences Press, 2006).
