(1460-1506), with the name of Kejiu, was born in bangyanfang, Dongguan County, Guangdong Province. When he was young, he took part in the inspection examination and was famous for his excellent results. In 1483, he won the second place in the rural examination. In the third year of Hongzhi (1490), he became a Jinshi and won the first and second place (i.e. the top of the list). He was granted the title of editor of Hanlin academy and served as an official of Jingyan. At that time, comet appeared in Tianjin, he had been ordered to visit. He talked about the situation at that time, and many opinions were approved and adopted by the emperor.
In the sixth year of Hongzhi (1493), he went to Shanghai to play the imperial court, begging to go home to support his mother. At that time, the imperial court stipulated that those who had been an official for less than six years were not allowed to ask for leave to return home, but emperor Xiaozong made an exception. Hongzhi ten years (1497), went to Korea. The next year, his wife died of illness, and his mother was over seventy years old. He begged to return home again, but he was not allowed to do so at the beginning. He stated that his wife had died and there was no one to serve his mother. He moved Xiaozong with loyalty and filial piety, and Xiaozong asked for leave. In the first year of Zhengde (1506), Emperor Wuzong ascended the throne. Liu cunye returned to the imperial court and was appointed as the official of Jingyan. He participated in the compilation of the record of Xiaozong and made remarkable achievements. Emperor Wuzong rewarded him with gold and silk. In May of the same year, Liu cunye, a member of the Wuzong school, paid tribute to the tomb of emperor Xiaozong. He was seriously ill at the time of his return. Before he died, he still remembered to repair the record of emperor Xiaozong. He was 47 years old. Liu Cunli, his cousin, was born. After checking what he had left, he could hardly handle the funeral. Liu cunye is quick in thinking and writing. He once majored in Dongguan county annals, and wrote five volumes of Jian'an manuscript, fifteen volumes of Dongguan county annals and some poems.
