Hangzhou has a long history of building city walls. In 591, the 11th year of emperor kaihuang of Sui Dynasty, the state was moved to the foot of Fenghuang Mountain in the west of Liupu. The city was built according to the mountain. It was thirty-six Li and ninety steps around. The northwest gate was called Qiantang gate. In the fourth year of Wude (621) of Tang Dynasty, in order to avoid the name of the state, he changed the name of Tang Dynasty to Qiantang. In the 28th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1158), pavilions were built on the Qiantang gate, overlooking the West Lake. There are many Buddhist temples outside the gate, and most people who go to Lingzhu go in and out of the gate. There is a rumor that "xianglan'er outside Qiantang gate". Inside the gate are jingling palace, Qiantang county government, Qiantang school and Shangshang temple. The gate was destroyed in the early Yuan Dynasty. In the 19th year of Yuan Dynasty (1359), Zhang rebuilt qiantangmen on the original site, which still existed in the Qing Dynasty, and was located in the northwest corner of Qiying. In 1913, following the demolition of Qiying, Qiantang, Yongjin and Qingbo gates and the city wall were demolished. Hubin Road, Nanshan Road and Hubin park were built on the foundation of the city, and the West Lake was connected with the city. In 2002, Hubin Road was reconstructed, and the green space around Qiantang gate was integrated into shengtangzha scenic area, becoming a public leisure place. In order to make later generations understand the historical facts of the changes, the stone ambition was set up here when Qingchun Road was renovated in 2005.
