Lu Su's tomb is about 500 meters east of Yueyang Tower. The mound, 8 meters high and 32 meters in diameter, covers an area of 800 square meters and is surrounded by stone railings. It is solemn and respectful. Lu Su was a native of linhuai Dongcheng (now Southeast of Dingyuan, Anhui). In the battle of Chibi, he promoted the alliance between Sun Quan and Liu Bei, gave advice to Zhou Yu and defeated Cao Cao's army. In 210 A.D. (the 15th year of Jian'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty), Sun Quan worshipped Lu Su as the prefect of Hanchang, a partial general, and then a general of Hengjiang, and ordered him to garrison Lukou (now southwest of Jiayu in Hubei Province) in Jingzhou. In 215 A.D., Lu Su led a heavy army to garrison Bachu. In 217 ad, he died of illness at the age of 46. During his six or seven years in Lukou and Bachu, Lu Su always maintained the alliance between sun and Liu, and forced Cao Jun not to go south, which fully demonstrated his military talent and intelligence. Therefore, Chen Shou, a native of Jin Dynasty, praised Lu Su for his great kindness when he was in Jingzhou. Yueyang respected him as a sage since ancient times. Yueyang used to worship six sages, one of which was Lu su. People in Yuezhou built Lu Su's tomb and built Lu Su's general temple (which has been destroyed). Lu Su's tomb is recorded in the annals of Baling county during the reign of Tongzhi and Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty. In 1889, Zhou Zhide, the magistrate of Baling County, repaired the tomb once. In 1915, when Cao Kun, a northern warlord, came to Yueyang, he had his tomb re engraved. On the stone pillars on both sides of the tombstone is carved a pair of couplets: Fu Di Zhu Cao Jian, seen on Xun Yu; Shi Wu Qin Han Zhou, with the same heart as Wu Hou. There is a small pavilion on the top of the tomb, and a stone tablet in the center of the pavilion is engraved with an inscription written by Cao Kun: in 1698 B.C., in the 22nd year of Jian'an of the Han Dynasty, Lu Su, a water general of the eastern Wu Dynasty, died here, and baling people were buried here for their virtue. I was in Yueyang, passing through his grave, and wanted to see him as a man, and lingered for him. There are pavilions in the old tombs, which are blasphemous and intolerable. I repair them. The inscription says: public virtue is here, death is here, and burial is here. Hoo hoo, the Lord is eternal! This is the tomb of Lu Su that people saw 40 years ago. Later, the pavilion was destroyed and the stele was lost. Only the tomb ridge remained. In 1984, Yueyang City was rebuilt according to its original appearance. In 1956, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Hunan Province. Unfortunately, there are several tombs of Lu su. Whether the tombs are true or false remains to be further studied
