Huangdao District is a municipal district under the jurisdiction of Qingdao City, Shandong Province, namely Qingdao west coast economic new area, with a total area of about 2220.10 square kilometers and a population of 1.3926 million in 2010. Evolution of organizational system

In September 1946, Jiaonan county was established. Huangdao, Xuejiadao and Xin'an were separated from Jiaonan county and included in Jiaonan county. In 1956, Jiaonan county was incorporated into Changwei district. In October 1958, Jiaonan county was changed to Qingdao city. In October 1976, the Shandong Provincial Revolutionary Committee decided to separate the three people's communes of Huangdao, Xuejiadao and Xin'an from Jiaonan and set up the Huangdao Revolutionary Committee (county level).

In October 1984, the State Council approved the establishment of Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone. On December 18, 1990, Jiaonan county was abolished and Jiaonan City was established. In 1992, Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone was extended to the former Huangdao District, and the two district system was integrated.
